Summary

This 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe PREMIUM represents the most sought-after configuration for the GCC market, combining the powerful 3.5L V6 engine with All Wheel Drive capability. As a late-model GCC spec vehicle, it offers the peace of mind of local warranty and service compatibility that imported alternatives lack. The PREMIUM trim is particularly impressive, bridging the gap between a family SUV and a luxury cruiser with high-end materials and advanced tech. With seven-seat capacity and a robust V6 powertrain, it stands out as a more durable and capable choice than the four-cylinder turbo rivals often found in this segment. Grey is a highly strategic choice for the UAE, as it maintains its luster in dusty conditions and holds excellent resale value. For any buyer looking for a modern, tech-heavy family vehicle that can handle the heat and long-distance demands of the region, this specific Santa Fe is a standout opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2024 Santa Fes

When comparing this 2024 Santa Fe to others on the market, the primary advantage is its mechanical configuration and regional suitability. While many newer models are moving toward smaller turbocharged engines, this unit features the proven 3.5L V6, which is better suited for the high-ambient temperatures and high-speed highway cruising common in the GCC. The mileage is slightly higher than the average for a single year of use, reflecting the typical long-distance commutes between Emirates like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but this also confirms the vehicle's reliability and highway-proven stability. This is a GCC spec vehicle, meaning it was built from the factory with an uprated cooling system and AC compressor specifically designed for Middle Eastern summers. The Grey exterior is one of the most practical colors for the region, masking the light desert dust that accumulates between washes far better than black or darker shades. Choosing this V6 All Wheel Drive model over the standard front-wheel-drive versions ensures better grip and stability during occasional rain or when navigating gravel paths and light sand.

PREMIUM vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the PREMIUM trim transforms the Santa Fe from a standard family hauler into a sophisticated executive SUV. This trim adds the comprehensive 360-degree Surround View Monitor, which is essential for parking a vehicle of this size in tight urban spaces in Riyadh or Dubai. Unlike the base trims, the PREMIUM includes ventilated front seats, a feature that many GCC drivers consider a necessity rather than a luxury during the five months of extreme summer heat. You also get the upgraded digital cockpit and a larger infotainment screen that supports seamless smartphone integration. The interior materials are noticeably higher in quality, featuring soft-touch surfaces and ambient lighting that creates a more refined atmosphere during night drives. Furthermore, this trim includes the power tailgate and an upgraded sound system, providing a level of convenience and entertainment that lower-tier models simply cannot match.

Santa Fe vs Segment Rivals

The Santa Fe competes directly with the Kia Sorento, Toyota Highlander, and Honda Pilot, but it carves out a unique niche by offering more tech per dirham. Against the Toyota Highlander, the Santa Fe PREMIUM offers a more modern interior design and a more intuitive infotainment system that appeals to the tech-savvy GCC buyer. While the Honda Pilot is known for its size, the Santa Fe feels more agile and easier to maneuver in city traffic while still offering an adult-friendly third row. Its 3.5L V6 engine is a major selling point compared to the four-cylinder hybrids in the segment, providing the raw torque needed for full-load highway overtaking. The Santa Fe's All Wheel Drive system is also more sophisticated than many entry-level rivals, offering multiple terrain modes that help on slippery surfaces or loose gravel. Additionally, Hyundai's recent design language gives this model a distinctive, futuristic presence on the road that makes older rivals look dated by comparison.

Running Costs & Resale

Running a 3.5L V6 Santa Fe in the GCC is surprisingly economical given the performance on tap. On long highway stretches across the UAE or Saudi Arabia, the engine settles into an efficient cruising rhythm, while city fuel consumption remains competitive for the seven-seater class. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and with one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the region, maintenance is convenient whether you are in a major city or a smaller town. Parts availability is excellent, which keeps long-term maintenance costs significantly lower than European luxury alternatives. In terms of resale, the Santa Fe is a top performer in the mid-size SUV segment, typically seeing a depreciation rate of only 10-12% annually. Because this is a GCC spec PREMIUM trim with the V6 engine, it will remain highly liquid in the used market for years to come, as this specific combination is exactly what second and third owners look for.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this Santa Fe is the 3.5L V6 engine, which delivers smooth, linear power that smaller engines struggle to replicate. It provides a confident 0-100 km/h sprint that makes merging onto fast-moving highways like Sheikh Zayed Road effortless, even with a full complement of passengers. The All Wheel Drive system provides constant monitoring of traction, shifting power between wheels to ensure stability during high-speed cornering or when encountering unpredictable road surfaces. With a respectable ground clearance, it handles speed bumps and uneven desert roads with ease, providing a cushioned ride that prioritizes passenger comfort. The automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, ensuring that gear changes are almost imperceptible during a relaxed cruise. While not a dedicated rock-crawler, the Santa Fe's terrain management system allows for confident driving on sandy tracks leading to weekend campsites or coastal getaways.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin of the Santa Fe PREMIUM is designed to be a sanctuary from the harsh outside environment of the GCC. With seven seats, it offers a flexible layout where the second row can be adjusted for maximum legroom, making it ideal for large families. The dual-zone climate control system is exceptionally powerful, capable of dropping the cabin temperature rapidly even after the car has been parked in the sun. Rear passengers are well-catered for with dedicated air vents and charging ports, ensuring comfort on long cross-country trips. The cabin insulation is a particular highlight, effectively filtering out road noise and the roar of the wind at highway speeds. The large panoramic sunroof adds a sense of airiness to the interior, though the high-quality sunblind ensures the heat stays out when necessary. Every touchpoint, from the leather-wrapped steering wheel to the dampened switchgear, reflects Hyundai's commitment to a premium ownership experience.

Safety

Safety is a cornerstone of the Santa Fe PREMIUM, which carries a 5-Star NCAP rating and a suite of active driver assistance systems. The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist are invaluable for the high-density traffic environments of major GCC cities. On long desert hauls, the Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go takes the fatigue out of driving by maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist provides an extra layer of security when navigating multi-lane highways where fast-moving vehicles can appear suddenly. The vehicle is also equipped with a comprehensive airbag system and a reinforced chassis designed to protect all three rows of occupants. Features like the Safe Exit Assist, which prevents doors from opening if a vehicle is approaching from behind, make it one of the most family-friendly choices on the market today.

The bottom line

This 2024 Santa Fe PREMIUM is the perfect match for a family that needs V6 power and modern luxury without the high maintenance costs of a European brand. As a GCC spec vehicle in a resale-friendly color, it is a secure and practical investment for any buyer in the region.
