Summary

This 2024 model presents a significant opportunity for buyers seeking a near-new compact crossover without the initial depreciation hit of a showroom purchase. With just over 26,000 km, this vehicle sits well below the typical GCC annual mileage average, offering plenty of mechanical life for daily commuting or weekend trips between emirates. The grey exterior is one of the most resilient colors for the UAE climate, maintaining its visual appeal while supporting stronger resale value than bolder hues. As the Intelligent trim, it provides a tech-heavy cabin that rivals far more expensive segments, making it a standout choice for value-conscious urban drivers. The regional GCC specification ensures that the cooling systems and air conditioning are fully optimized for the extreme summer heat common across the Gulf.

This Car vs Other 2024 S3s

With 26,517 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven approximately 13,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000 to 25,000 km. This lower-than-average usage means less wear on the suspension and drivetrain components compared to most used examples of the same year. The grey metallic finish is a highly sought-after resale color in the regional market, offering better heat reflection than black while hiding dust better than white.

INTELLIGENT vs Lower Trims

The Intelligent trim is the premium specification for this model, adding critical technology that GCC buyers value, most notably the 360-degree panoramic camera system for easier parking in tight urban spaces. It upgrades the interior with leatherette upholstery and a larger 8-inch HD touchscreen compared to the basic units found in lower trims. Additionally, this trim includes cruise control and a sunroof, features that are often omitted on entry-level versions but are essential for long highway drives across the UAE.

S3 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Renault Duster or MG ZS, the S3 leads with a massive 600-liter boot capacity, which is one of the largest in the sub-compact crossover segment. While competitors often prioritize off-road styling, this model focuses on cabin efficiency and fuel economy, making it a more practical city commuter. Its 45-liter fuel tank, combined with a 1.6L engine, provides a competitive range for cross-border trips or long highway runs to Abu Dhabi.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.6L engine is designed for efficiency, delivering an official combined fuel consumption of 6.5 L/100km, which translates to excellent savings in stop-start city traffic. Maintenance is straightforward through the extensive Al Habtoor Motors service network in the UAE, with standard intervals typically occurring every 10,000 km. The GCC-spec status is a vital asset for resale, as it guarantees parts availability and service support across the entire region, maintaining higher value retention than non-regional imports.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 1.6L VVT engine producing 118 hp, this crossover is tuned for smooth urban delivery rather than raw speed, reaching a top speed of 180 km/h. The CVT transmission is optimized for fuel saving, providing a seamless experience during highway cruising at 120 km/h. With a ground clearance of approximately 200 mm, it easily handles high speed bumps and uneven suburban roads that would challenge a standard sedan.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to withstand the GCC climate, featuring a powerful automatic air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool. The 600-liter cargo area is easily expandable to 1,200 liters with the 60:40 split rear seats folded flat, accommodating large grocery runs or sports equipment. Tech highlights include mobile phone mirroring and a multi-function leather steering wheel, keeping the driver connected and comfortable during long commutes.

Safety

This Intelligent trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) which is vital for safe highway driving in high temperatures. It also features Hill-Start Assist to prevent rolling on inclines and ISOFIX child seat anchors for family safety. The inclusion of front and rear parking sensors alongside the 360-degree camera provides excellent spatial awareness in busy parking environments.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking a late-model crossover with low mileage and a high feature count, this Intelligent trim S3 offers the best balance of technology and practicality. It is a sensible, well-maintained choice for a small family or a professional looking for a reliable daily driver with a strong service backbone in the UAE.
