Summary

This 2024 JAC S3 Intelligent presents a compelling opportunity for city-based families, offering modern technology at a highly competitive entry point. With under 40,000 km, the mileage is slightly higher than average but perfectly aligns with the heavy highway use typical for late-model crossovers in the UAE. The vibrant Red exterior is a stand-out choice that maintains solid interest in the secondary market compared to neutral tones. As the Intelligent trim, it brings essential tech like a 360° camera and smartphone integration that aren't always standard in this segment. For a GCC buyer, this model represents one of the most cost-effective ways to own a current-year SUV with high equipment levels and efficient running costs.

This Car vs Other 2024 JAC S3s

With 39,164 km on the odometer, this S3 has been driven slightly more than the typical 20,000 km annual average for the UAE, suggesting consistent highway commuting between emirates rather than stop-start city wear. The Red exterior is a distinctive and popular choice in the local market, helping it stand out against the sea of white and silver crossovers. Its status as a 2024 model means it benefits from the latest aesthetic updates and software refinements for the current generation.

INTELLIGENT vs Lower Trims

The Intelligent trim is the premium choice for this model, adding features that are highly valued by GCC drivers, such as the 360° panoramic camera system which simplifies parking in tight urban spaces. It upgrades the cabin with synthetic leather upholstery and a 10-inch HD touchscreen, offering a significantly more modern feel than the basic fabric and smaller screens found on entry-level versions. Additionally, the inclusion of a sunroof and cruise control makes it much better suited for long-distance desert highway drives.

JAC S3 vs Segment Rivals

The JAC S3 leads its segment in cargo practicality, offering a substantial 600-litre boot that easily outclasses compact rivals like the MG ZS or Hyundai Creta. While competitors often charge a premium for advanced safety tech, the S3 Intelligent comes standard with a full suite of sensors and cameras. Its 1.6L engine is specifically tuned for efficiency, making it one of the most economical petrol-only crossovers for daily commuting in GCC traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages a frugal 6.5 L/100km, making it exceptionally affordable for high-mileage drivers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is supported by the extensive Al Habtoor Motors service network in the UAE, with standard service intervals recommended every 10,000 km. While Chinese brands typically face steeper initial depreciation than Japanese rivals, the S3's low entry price and high feature list help it maintain a strong value floor in the used market after the first three years.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 1.6L VVT engine producing 118 hp, the S3 is designed for smooth urban mobility and steady highway cruising rather than off-road exploration. The CVT automatic transmission provides a seamless power delivery that excels in stop-start Dubai or Riyadh traffic. With a ground clearance of approximately 200 mm, it handles high speed bumps and uneven gravel tracks with ease, providing a level of confidence not found in standard hatchbacks.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is thoughtfully designed for the GCC climate, featuring a high-efficiency automatic air conditioning system that cools the cabin rapidly even in peak summer temperatures. The 5-seat layout provides generous headroom for all passengers, while the leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel puts audio and cruise controls within easy reach. The 10-inch infotainment screen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring modern connectivity for the entire family.

Safety

Safety is a priority in the Intelligent trim, featuring a 360° camera, rear parking sensors, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) which is vital for maintaining safety during high-temperature highway runs. The vehicle is equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill Start Assist to ensure stability on varying road surfaces. Standard dual airbags and a reinforced body structure provide reliable protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

Perfect for the budget-conscious urban professional or small family, this well-equipped 2024 crossover offers a nearly-new ownership experience with a tech-heavy spec that rivals significantly more expensive SUVs.
