Summary

This 2024 Kia Sonet EX is a standout choice for city commuters and small families looking for a modern, tech-rich crossover without the high running costs of a full-sized SUV. As the mid-range EX trim, it strikes a perfect balance by adding premium features like alloy wheels and enhanced lighting that the base models lack, all while maintaining excellent resale appeal in its crisp white finish. With its efficient 1.5L engine and small footprint, navigating tight GCC urban traffic and mall parking is effortless. For a buyer in the region, the combination of Kia’s reliable reputation and the car’s current tech makes it a highly sensible daily driver. This specific listing offers a well-maintained entry into the 2024 model year, ensuring you benefit from the latest design updates and interior refinements.

This Car vs Other 2024 Sonets

With 84,534 km, this Sonet has been a dedicated daily driver, likely covering consistent highway miles between emirates. While the mileage is higher than the typical 20,000 km annual average for the GCC, it demonstrates the car's reliability and readiness for long-distance use. Its white exterior remains the most sought-after color in the local used market, ensuring faster resale and better heat reflection during peak summer months.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim provides a significant upgrade over the entry-level LX, most notably through the inclusion of 16-inch alloy wheels and roof rails which give the car a more premium road presence. Inside, you benefit from a more functional cabin with keyless entry and a rear-view camera integrated into the 8-inch touchscreen. It also adds rear parking sensors and LED daytime running lights, features that GCC buyers value for both safety and modern styling.

Sonet vs Segment Rivals

The Kia Sonet competes directly with the Nissan Magnite and Toyota Urban Cruiser, leading the group in terms of interior build quality and boot capacity at 385 litres. While rivals often feel more utilitarian, the Sonet offers a more refined 'mini-SUV' feel with better sound insulation for highway speeds. Its 1.5L naturally aspirated engine is preferred by many GCC owners over the smaller turbo units of competitors for its linear power delivery and long-term durability in extreme heat.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a major highlight, with a combined rating of approximately 5.7 L/100km, making it one of the most economical petrol SUVs in the region. Routine maintenance is straightforward thanks to Kia's massive service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, with standard service intervals typically set at every 10,000 km. The Sonet holds its value well in the GCC, generally seeing a depreciation of only 10-12% annually, which is superior to many European subcompact rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L 4-cylinder engine produces 113 hp, which is perfectly tuned for urban environments and steady highway cruising at 120 km/h. With a ground clearance of 205 mm, it handles high speed bumps and uneven gravel roads with much more confidence than a standard hatchback. The CVT automatic transmission is designed for smoothness, ensuring a jerk-free experience during the stop-start traffic common in Dubai or Riyadh.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is surprisingly spacious for its class, featuring a high seating position that provides excellent visibility. It is equipped with dedicated rear AC vents—a critical feature for maintaining passenger comfort during the intense GCC summer. The 8-inch infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing for seamless navigation and media control during long drives across the Emirates.

Safety

Safety is well-covered with dual front airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) as standard. The inclusion of a rear-view camera and parking sensors on this EX trim makes it exceptionally easy to park in tight city spaces. These active systems are particularly useful for navigating the fast-paced highway traffic and crowded urban centers of the GCC.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants a nearly-new 2024 SUV with a premium feature set and the best fuel economy in its class, this Sonet EX is a top-tier opportunity. It is a proven, reliable workhorse that remains stylish and tech-forward for the modern GCC driver.
