Summary

This 2024 Kia Sonet EX is an ideal urban companion, offering exceptionally low mileage for a two-year-old vehicle in the GCC. The white exterior is a top performer for local resale value and helps reflect heat during the summer months. As the EX trim, it offers a more premium experience than base models, featuring key upgrades that enhance both style and daily convenience. The Sonet stands out in the sub-compact segment for its impressive fuel efficiency and modern interior tech, making it a smart choice for city commuting. Given Kia's strong presence across the region, owners benefit from a reliable and accessible maintenance network.

This Car vs Other 2024 Sonets

With just 20,131 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the GCC. This low usage, combined with the white exterior—a high-demand color in the local market—positions this car as a top-tier option for value retention. It presents a clear advantage for buyers seeking a near-new experience in a two-year-old model.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim elevates the Sonet experience with essential features not found on the LX, including 16-inch alloy wheels and a more sophisticated infotainment suite. GCC buyers will particularly appreciate the inclusion of cruise control for long highway stretches and integrated roof rails for added practicality. It also steps up safety and convenience with front parking sensors and a high-resolution rearview camera as standard.

Sonet vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Chevrolet Groove or Toyota Urban Cruiser, the Sonet leads with a more modern and tech-focused cabin design. Its 1.5-litre engine is specifically tuned for a balance of city agility and highway efficiency, often outperforming competitors in real-world fuel economy. Additionally, the Sonet provides a class-competitive 392-litre boot, ensuring it handles family errands more effectively than many sub-compact crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

The Sonet is remarkably efficient, achieving approximately 5.7 L/100km, which translates to over 750 km of range from its 45-litre tank—perfect for minimizing stops on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi commute. Kia’s authorised service network is one of the most robust in the UAE and wider GCC, ensuring parts are affordable and expertise is always nearby. The model enjoys strong value retention, typically depreciating slower than European rivals in this segment due to its proven reliability in high-temperature environments.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 115 hp, the Sonet delivers smooth and linear power through its automatic transmission. The front-wheel-drive setup is optimized for urban environments and well-paved highways, providing a composed ride even at speed. With a ground clearance of approximately 205 mm, it easily manages speed breakers and rougher patches of road that might challenge a standard sedan.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC summers, featuring a high-performance air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents to keep all five passengers cool. The EX trim includes a large 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless connectivity without messy cables. The 60:40 split-folding rear seats allow for versatile cargo management, while the well-insulated interior keeps road noise to a minimum during highway cruising.

Safety

Safety is a priority in the EX trim, which comes equipped with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill-Start Assist Control. The inclusion of both front and rear parking sensors, paired with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), provides peace of mind in busy metropolitan traffic. These active systems ensure the Sonet remains stable and secure during sudden maneuvers on fast-moving GCC highways.

The bottom line

This low-mileage 2024 Sonet EX is a perfect fit for a young professional or small family looking for a modern, fuel-efficient crossover with the security of a vast GCC service network.
