Summary

This 2024 Mazda CX-5 GT represents a refined choice in the compact SUV segment, blending premium interior quality with dependable Japanese engineering. The GT trim is a significant step up, offering high-end features typically reserved for luxury brands, making it a standout for professionals and small families in the UAE. Its Grey exterior is a highly practical and desirable choice for the local market, maintaining strong resale value and hiding desert dust well. Given its recent model year, this vehicle is well-suited for a buyer who wants a modern, tech-focused cabin without the steep initial depreciation of a brand-new car. As a GCC-spec model, it is fully equipped to handle the extreme summer heat and long highway commutes between emirates.

This Car vs Other 2024 CX-5s

With a mileage of 115,754 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the GCC, likely reflecting long-distance highway use rather than harsh city traffic. The Grey exterior is one of the most resilient colors for the region's climate, offering excellent heat reflection and maintaining a cleaner appearance during sandstorms. For a 2024 model, the higher mileage is offset by the advanced modern features and current-generation styling that remains fresh on UAE roads.

GT vs Lower Trims

The GT trim significantly elevates the ownership experience over the base GL, adding essential GCC comforts like a power moonroof and a premium 10-speaker Bose audio system. It also introduces a windshield-projected Head-Up Display and a power liftgate, features that add daily convenience during busy commutes. While lower trims stick to basic fabric, the GT provides leather-trimmed seating and larger 19-inch alloy wheels that improve both the car's stance and resale appeal.

CX-5 vs Segment Rivals

The CX-5 is frequently cross-shopped with the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, but it leads the segment in interior material quality and driver engagement. While rivals focus on utility, the Mazda provides a more 'executive' feel with its quiet cabin and superior sound insulation, making it better for long drives across the UAE. Its 58-litre fuel tank ensures a competitive cruising range for cross-border trips or desert highway stints.

Running Costs & Resale

The naturally aspirated 2.5L engine offers a balanced fuel consumption of approximately 7.4 L/100km, which is highly efficient for the daily stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals for Mazda in the UAE are typically every 10,000 km, with a wide network of authorized centers ensuring parts are readily available. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it retains value far better than imported American or European units, usually depreciating at a stable 10-12% annually.

Performance & Capability

Delivering 188 hp and 252 Nm of torque, the CX-5 provides smooth, linear acceleration that is ideal for overtaking on fast-moving highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The i-Activ AWD system monitors road conditions in real-time, providing extra stability on gravel tracks or during the occasional heavy rain. With a ground clearance of approximately 200 mm, it is well-equipped to handle high speed bumps and light off-road excursions for weekend camping trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-seat cabin is designed with a premium focus, featuring dual-zone automatic climate control and rear AC vents that are vital for maintaining passenger comfort in 45°C+ summer heat. The GT trim includes power-adjustable seats with memory functions, allowing different drivers to quickly find their ideal position. Cabin insulation is a highlight, keeping wind and road noise to a minimum even at high highway speeds.

Safety

Standard safety for the GT trim includes a comprehensive ADAS suite featuring Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which are indispensable on multi-lane GCC highways. It also comes equipped with adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist to reduce driver fatigue on long desert stretches. A 360-degree view monitor and front and rear parking sensors come as standard, making navigation in tight urban parking structures effortless.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a modern, high-spec SUV that feels more premium than its price suggests, this GCC-spec GT trim offers the perfect balance of luxury tech and proven reliability.
