Summary

This 2024 GLS450 4MATIC is a compelling buy for those seeking a near-new flagship SUV, with mileage reflecting standard annual use for a luxury vehicle in the GCC. The black exterior is a high-demand, high-resale choice across the region, perfectly complementing the car's imposing proportions. As the segment benchmark for three-row refinement, the GLS provides a level of isolation and passenger comfort that rivals struggle to match. For the GCC owner, this means a vehicle perfectly suited for high-speed cross-border trips or daily school runs in peak summer heat. This specific unit offers the ideal balance of the latest MBUX technology and proven 6-cylinder efficiency.

This Car vs Other 2024 GLS450s

With 24,000 km, this vehicle's usage is consistent with typical GCC luxury driving patterns, where highway-heavy commutes are the norm. The black exterior finish is one of the most liquid colors in the local used market, ensuring faster resale and stronger value retention compared to niche shades. Being a GCC-spec model, it carries the cooling and filtration hardware essential for maintaining performance during the extreme regional summer.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The 4MATIC system is standard on the GLS450, providing variable all-wheel drive that is crucial for stability during rare rain events or on loose gravel tracks. This trim includes the updated 2024 MBUX interface and the 48V mild-hybrid system, which provides a smoother start-stop experience in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic compared to older, non-electrified versions. It also features standard ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera, features that are often optional on smaller SUV classes.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

The GLS450 leads the BMW X7 in terms of third-row legroom, offering nearly 35 inches of space that makes the rear seats genuinely usable for adults on longer drives. Its 90-litre fuel tank provides a significant range advantage for long desert highway stretches compared to the smaller tanks found in some rivals. Additionally, the air suspension is tuned for a softer, more isolated ride than the sport-oriented X7, making it the preferred choice for family-first buyers.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption for the 3.0L inline-6 typically averages around 10.2 L/100km, offering a more economical daily driving experience than the V8 alternatives while still providing ample power for highway overtaking. Authorized service centers for Mercedes-Benz are widely available across all major GCC cities, ensuring specialized care is never far away. As a flagship Mercedes SUV, the GLS450 enjoys a stable depreciation curve, typically retaining more value at the 3-year mark than its American or British competitors.

Performance & Capability

The turbocharged 3.0L engine delivers 367 hp and 500 Nm of torque, enabling a swift 0-100 km/h sprint of just 6.1 seconds—impressive for a vehicle of this scale. The standard AIRMATIC air suspension allows for adjustable ride height, which is particularly useful for clearing obstacles or providing easier cabin entry. The 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission is calibrated for seamless shifts, ensuring the engine remains in the optimal power band during long-distance cruising across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a true seven-seat environment with a 2-3-2 configuration that includes power-folding second and third rows for effortless cargo management. Dual 12.3-inch screens dominate the dashboard, providing high-resolution navigation and vehicle controls through the latest MBUX software. GCC-specific comfort is handled by a robust multi-zone climate control system with dedicated vents for all three rows, ensuring every passenger remains cool even in 45°C temperatures.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with the standard inclusion of Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and the Pre-Safe system which prepares the cabin for an imminent collision. The 360-degree camera and Active Parking Assist are invaluable for maneuvering this large SUV in tight urban parking structures. For long highway journeys, the Attention Assist and Lane Keeping Assist provide a critical second layer of protection against driver fatigue.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec GLS450 is the definitive choice for a family requiring maximum space without sacrificing prestige; its recent model year and strong color choice make it a secure investment in the current market.
