Summary

This 2024 S 680 Maybach represents the zenith of the modern Mercedes-Benz lineup, offering the rare and iconic V12 powertrain that has become a collector's choice in the GCC. With effectively delivery mileage at just 33 km, this European-spec sedan provides a unique opportunity to own a current-year flagship without the typical wait times. The Obsidian Black finish is the gold standard for resale value in the UAE and Saudi markets, ensuring strong demand in the pre-owned segment. While it sits comfortably as a daily executive commuter, its true strength lies in the peerless rear-cabin refinement designed to compete with the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley.

This Car vs Other 2024 S 680s

With only 33 km on the odometer, this vehicle is essentially brand new, placing it well below the average 20,000 km typically seen on one-year-old executive cars in the GCC. The European regional specification offers a high level of interior finish, though buyers should confirm service package compatibility with local UAE distributors. The Black-on-Black color combination remains the most liquid asset in the regional luxury market, commanding the highest retention rates.

MAYBACH vs Lower Trims

The S 680 stands as the only way to secure the 6.0-litre V12 engine, as the S 580 utilizes a V8 biturbo. Over the standard S-Class, the Maybach trim adds a 180mm longer wheelbase entirely dedicated to rear legroom, alongside the MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment system and executive seats with calf massage. You also benefit from active road noise compensation, which uses the Burmester sound system to cancel out exterior frequencies for a near-silent cabin.

S 680 vs Segment Rivals

The Maybach S 680 is frequently cross-shopped with the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Bentley Flying Spur. It leads the segment in technical integration, offering a more advanced digital cockpit and MBUX augmented reality head-up display that outpaces its British rivals. For the GCC driver, the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system provides superior stability during occasional desert rain or high-speed cross-border highway cruises compared to rear-wheel-drive competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the V12 typically averages around 13.4 L/100 km in combined cycles, though GCC city traffic can see this rise significantly. Authorized Mercedes-Benz service centers are ubiquitous across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts and expert technicians are always accessible. While V12 luxury sedans face higher depreciation than Japanese alternatives, the S 680 retains value better than the V8 S 580 due to its status as the final evolution of the Mercedes V12 engine.

Performance & Capability

The hand-built 6.0-litre V12 produces a massive 900 Nm of torque, allowing this large sedan to reach 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds with effortless, linear delivery. The standard rear-axle steering significantly reduces the turning circle, making this long-wheelbase limousine surprisingly maneuverable in tight Dubai marina or Riyadh city parking. The 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission is specifically tuned for the 'Maybach' drive mode, which prioritizes smooth gear changes and a 'magic carpet' ride quality.

Comfort & Cabin

The four-zone climate control is engineered to handle 45°C+ GCC summers, supported by ventilated and heated seats in both the front and rear. The rear cabin is a true mobile office, featuring a refrigerated compartment, silver-plated champagne flutes, and folding tables. Superior acoustic glazing and thick insulation ensure that even in heavy stop-start traffic, the cabin remains a tranquil environment isolated from outside heat and noise.

Safety

This Maybach comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including Pre-Safe Impulse Side which can raise the car body via the E-Active Body Control suspension just before a side impact. Standard features like Active Distance Assist Distronic and Blind Spot Assist are invaluable for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highways in the UAE. The vehicle also features rear-seat airbags integrated into the seatbelts, a segment-leading safety innovation for chauffeured passengers.

The bottom line

This is a rare chance to acquire a zero-km 2024 V12 flagship in the region's most desirable color, offering a level of prestige and smoothness that no V8 rival can match.
