Summary

This 2024 MG RX5 Luxury is a standout choice in the compact SUV segment, offering a sophisticated blend of tech and efficiency for GCC drivers. With its modern grey exterior—a consistently strong resale color in the local market—this two-year-old vehicle provides premium features often reserved for much more expensive rivals. The Luxury trim is particularly sought after for its panoramic sunroof and upgraded cabin materials, making it a comfortable companion for both city commutes and weekend road trips. Given the current mileage relative to its age, this car represents a practical opportunity for those seeking a near-new SUV experience without the initial depreciation hit. It remains one of the best-equipped vehicles for its price point, perfectly suited to the climate and highway-heavy driving typical of the region.

This Car vs Other 2024 MG RX5s

At two years old, this RX5’s mileage reflects typical GCC usage where highway-heavy driving between emirates is standard. Compared to average listings, this vehicle offers the advantage of the top-tier Luxury specification in a neutral grey finish, which is widely considered one of the most stable colors for future resale value in the Middle East.

LUXURY vs Lower Trims

The Luxury trim adds significant premium features over the Standard and Comfort models, including a standard 360-degree parking camera and a power-adjustable driver's seat. It also features a larger 14.1-inch vertical touchscreen and an expansive panoramic sunroof, elevating the cabin experience and providing a more high-tech environment for passengers.

RX5 vs Segment Rivals

The RX5 competes directly with the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson, leading many rivals in standard equipment per dollar. It offers a larger infotainment display than most in its class and provides a competitive 430-litre cargo capacity, making it a highly practical choice for small families and urban professionals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel efficiency is excellent for its class, averaging approximately 6.8 L/100km on combined cycles, which helps offset costs during long highway journeys. Maintenance is straightforward with a broad authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, typically requiring intervals every 10,000 km. The MG brand has shown strong value retention in the GCC market, often retaining around 70% of its value over the first three years.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine delivers a smooth 171 hp and 275 Nm of torque, ensuring confident overtaking on fast-moving GCC highways. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, it achieves a top speed of 190 km/h and handles city stop-start traffic with ease. While primarily an on-road SUV, its ground clearance is ample for gravel access roads and the occasional coastal excursion.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the Middle Eastern climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system and dedicated rear air vents to keep all five passengers cool during peak summer. The Luxury trim provides a refined atmosphere with high-quality finishes and a 12.3-inch digital driver display. Acoustic insulation helps maintain a quiet interior during high-speed cruising between cities.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with a 360-degree camera system that is essential for tight urban parking and improving visibility. Standard features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), cornering brake control, and multiple airbags to protect occupants. The vehicle also utilizes high-strength steel in its body construction, providing a robust safety cage for peace of mind on busy multi-lane roads.

The bottom line

This MG RX5 Luxury is the ideal match for a buyer looking for a modern, tech-heavy SUV that is still under its prime operational window, offering exceptional value and GCC-ready comfort.
