Summary

This 2024 Peugeot 3008 Active is a compelling choice for UAE buyers seeking a modern, fuel-efficient SUV with relatively low mileage for its year. The sleek black exterior remains a high-demand, strong resale choice across the GCC, pairing perfectly with the model's sharp French styling. In a segment often dominated by utilitarian designs, the 3008 stands out for its avant-garde interior and high-quality cabin materials. For the local buyer, the combination of a punchy 1.6L turbocharged engine and a reputable GCC-spec cooling system ensures reliable performance through the peak of summer. It is an ideal city commuter that handles the weekend drive between Emirates with equal poise.

This Car vs Other 2024 3008s

With 62,323 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven slightly more than the average GCC annual usage, reflecting consistent highway use between cities which often results in less wear than stop-start urban traffic. The black exterior is one of the most liquid colors in the local used market, ensuring better value retention compared to niche shades. It represents a modern, facelifted iteration of the second generation, benefiting from the latest interior tech updates.

ACTIVE vs Lower Trims

The Active trim serves as the essential entry point, offering the signature Peugeot i-Cockpit with an 8-inch touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster as standard. While higher trims add features like a panoramic sunroof or 360-degree cameras, the Active includes crucial GCC requirements like powerful automatic climate control and LED daytime running lights. It balances premium aesthetics with a lower entry price, avoiding the higher maintenance costs associated with complex electronic seat adjusters found in the GT lines.

3008 vs Segment Rivals

The 3008 leads rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail in terms of interior design and material quality, offering a cockpit-like feel that feels more premium than the segment average. Its 1.6L turbo engine provides 240 Nm of torque, offering more immediate overtaking power on fast UAE highways compared to the naturally aspirated engines in basic competitors. While competitors may offer more rugged off-road credentials, the 3008 focuses on superior on-road refinement and European handling dynamics.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy is a standout feature, averaging approximately 5.8 to 7.7 L/100km depending on how much time is spent in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic. Peugeot has a well-established authorized service network across the UAE (Swaidan Trading) and Saudi Arabia (Almajdouie), ensuring parts availability is consistent. In the GCC market, the 3008 typically sees a depreciation rate of 12-15% annually, holding its value better than many other European crossovers due to its high demand in the used compact SUV segment.

Performance & Capability

The 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces 165 hp, enabling a top speed of 201 km/h which makes it a very capable highway cruiser for long-distance desert drives. The 6-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, providing a relaxed experience during the daily commute. While it is a front-wheel-drive crossover, the 219 mm ground clearance is ample for handling speed bumps, gravel tracks, and occasional soft-sand parking areas at the beach.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around the innovative i-Cockpit, featuring a compact steering wheel that enhances the feeling of agility during city maneuvers. The 520-litre boot is generous for the class, easily accommodating family groceries or weekend luggage for a trip to Ras Al Khaimah. Crucially for the GCC climate, the air conditioning system is designed to reach peak cooling rapidly even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight.

Safety

Safety is a primary focus for the 3008, which carries a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. Standard equipment on this GCC-spec Active trim includes six airbags, electronic stability control, and cruise control with a speed limiter. These systems are particularly beneficial on the UAE's multi-lane highways, providing an extra layer of protection during high-speed travel.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants European flair and class-leading fuel efficiency without the premium price tag of a GT trim, this black 3008 is the smartest way into a late-model French SUV.
