Summary

This 2024 Peugeot 3008 in Active trim offers a compelling entry point into European SUV ownership within the GCC. Its distinctive red exterior provides strong visibility and remains a popular choice for those looking to stand out on the road. The 1.6-litre turbocharged engine is well-suited for the region's high-speed highway commutes, providing smooth overtaking power while maintaining reasonable efficiency. With mileage reflecting typical annual use for a modern UAE-based crossover, this vehicle represents a practical and stylish alternative to segment staples. The combination of French design and GCC-optimized cooling makes it a reliable daily companion for the local climate.

This Car vs Other 2024 3008s

With approximately 60,000 km, this vehicle aligns with the higher end of typical annual usage for a one-year-old car in the GCC, suggesting a history of consistent highway driving between emirates. The vibrant red finish is a bold choice that avoids the commonality of white and silver while maintaining a decent resale profile in the local used market. For a 2024 model, the mechanical components remain current with the latest generation's technical standards.

ACTIVE vs Lower Trims

The Active trim serves as the foundation of the 3008 range in the GCC, focusing on essential modern tech like the 8-inch touchscreen and 17-inch alloy wheels. While it omits the panoramic sunroof and 360-degree camera found in the Allure or GT trims, it retains the core safety features and the high-resolution digital i-Cockpit that GCC buyers value for its futuristic feel. Choosing the Active trim offers a significant entry-price advantage while keeping the same turbocharged powertrain as the higher variants.

3008 vs Segment Rivals

The Peugeot 3008 competes directly with the Volkswagen Tiguan and Hyundai Tucson, leading with a more avant-garde interior design and a unique compact steering wheel layout. Its French styling stands out against the more conservative aesthetic of its German and Korean rivals, while its 520-litre boot space is competitive for family grocery runs and weekend trips. The turbocharged 1.6L engine offers a punchier mid-range torque feel compared to the naturally aspirated alternatives often found in this segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 1.6T engine averages around 7.7 L/100km, making it efficient for long-distance highway cruising across the UAE. Authorized Peugeot service centers are well-established in major cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh, ensuring reliable maintenance and parts availability. While European SUVs typically see a depreciation rate of 15-20% in their first year in the GCC, the 3008's popularity helps it retain value better than many of its French counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The turbocharged 1.6-litre engine produces 165 hp and 240 Nm of torque, enabling a verified 0–100 km/h sprint in 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h. This performance translates to confident highway entry and stable cruising on the E11 or E311 during long-distance travels. As a front-wheel-drive crossover, it is optimized for road comfort and city maneuverability rather than off-road sand driving, though its 219 mm ground clearance easily handles high speed bumps and uneven urban terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Peugeot i-Cockpit features a 12.3-inch head-up digital instrument panel and a compact steering wheel that enhances the sense of control during daily commutes. The cabin is well-insulated against external heat, and the standard dual-zone climate control with rear vents is specifically designed to manage the extreme summer temperatures of the GCC. The five-seat layout provides ample legroom for a small family, while the quality of materials creates a premium atmosphere rarely seen at this trim level.

Safety

Safety is a priority with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA) all included as standard. The vehicle also features ISOFIX child seat anchors and a tire pressure monitoring system, which is crucial for maintaining safety during high-temperature highway drives. The combination of a rear-view camera and parking sensors provides excellent visibility for tight parking spots in areas like Dubai Marina or Downtown Riyadh.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking a late-model European SUV that balances style with sensible running costs, this 2024 Active trim is an ideal choice that stands out from the crowd.
