Summary

This 2024 Peugeot 3008 Active offers a modern European SUV experience tailored for the GCC, balancing distinctive French design with practical everyday performance. As a newer model year with moderate mileage for its age, it represents a high-value entry point into the premium crossover segment without the steep depreciation of higher trims. The Grey exterior is a highly resilient choice for the local climate, maintaining a clean look and strong resale demand across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. For the GCC driver, its standout feature is the award-winning i-Cockpit layout, which provides excellent visibility and ergonomics for both congested city traffic and high-speed highway commutes. It remains one of the most stylish alternatives to traditional Japanese and American rivals in the mid-size SUV market.

This Car vs Other 2024 Peugeot 3008s

With 52,873 km on the odometer, this 3008 has been driven slightly above the average for a single year in the GCC, likely reflecting long-distance highway use between emirates. In this market, highway miles are often preferred over stop-start city mileage as they put less strain on the transmission and cooling systems. The Grey finish is a strategic advantage for local resale, as it masks desert dust effectively and holds value better than bolder, niche colors.

ACTIVE vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim in the GCC lineup, the Active focuses on essential European refinement, including the 12.3-inch digital head-up instrument panel and an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen. It maintains core Peugeot DNA with signature LED daytime running lights and the i-Cockpit system, which are often absent in base-spec competitors. Choosing the Active trim avoids the added complexity of panoramic roofs and larger 19-inch wheels, which can be sensitive to the extreme heat and road conditions of the region.

3008 vs Segment Rivals

The Peugeot 3008 leads rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail in interior design and materials, offering a cockpit-like feel that is far more driver-centric. While its Japanese competitors focus on utility, the 3008 provides a more agile driving experience and a compact footprint that makes it significantly easier to park in tight urban spaces. Its 1.6-litre turbo engine offers punchier low-end torque than the naturally aspirated units found in entry-level Korean crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 1.6 THP engine averages approximately 7.0L/100km on combined GCC cycles, making it highly efficient for a vehicle in this class. Service intervals are typically scheduled every 10,000 km at authorized centers across the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, ensuring the engine thrives in high temperatures. While European SUVs face steeper initial depreciation than Japanese brands, the 3008's popularity in the UAE used market helps it maintain a better value floor than many of its continental peers.

Performance & Capability

The 1.6-litre turbocharged engine delivers a responsive 165 hp, enabling a top speed of 206 km/h, which provides plenty of headroom for safe highway overtaking. The 6-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, handling the heat-soaked stop-start traffic of Riyadh or Dubai with ease. With a ground clearance of approximately 198 mm, it comfortably navigates gravel tracks and high speed-bumps, though its front-wheel-drive setup is strictly designed for on-road and light-trail family duties.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is defined by the high-quality fabric seats and dual-zone climate control, which is specifically engineered to handle 45°C+ summer peaks. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated air vents, a crucial feature for family comfort during long desert drives between cities. The 520-litre boot is deep and practical, easily accommodating a full weekly shop or three medium suitcases for an airport run.

Safety

Standard safety features on the Active trim include six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and a rear-view camera with parking sensors to simplify maneuvering. It features advanced traction control and Hill Start Assist, which are particularly useful when navigating steep parking ramps or loose sandy shoulders. Peugeot’s focus on structural integrity earned this generation a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, providing peace of mind for family buyers.

The bottom line

Perfect for the urban professional or small family seeking European flair and fuel efficiency, this 2024 Active trim represents a mechanically sound, modern SUV at a price point that undercuts newer flagship models.
