Summary

This 2024 Baleno GL offers a practical entry into the compact segment, featuring a fuel-efficient 1.5-litre engine ideal for daily UAE commutes. With a mileage of 85,272 km over two years, it reflects consistent highway use, common for professionals traveling between emirates. The Grey exterior is a highly resilient choice for the GCC climate, maintaining strong resale appeal and resisting the harsh regional sun. Suzuki's reputation for mechanical simplicity and cooling efficiency makes this a reliable workhorse for the Gulf's high-temperature environment. It serves as a smart choice for buyers prioritizing low running costs and long-term durability.

This Car vs Other 2024 Balenos

With 85,272 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km per year. This suggests heavy highway usage, which often results in less wear on the brakes and transmission compared to stop-start city driving. The Grey metallic finish is one of the most practical colors for the region, effectively hiding dust and maintaining its luster better than darker shades.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim serves as a well-equipped mid-range option, offering essential GCC comforts like rear parking sensors and cruise control which are often absent on base fleet variants. It features a 7-inch infotainment system with smartphone linkage, providing modern connectivity that enhances the daily driving experience. Additionally, the GL includes electrically adjustable side mirrors and a leather-covered steering wheel, adding a touch of refinement to the durable cabin.

Baleno vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Sunny, the Baleno stands out with its superior fuel economy and more modern interior layout. Its 1.5-litre K15B engine is widely regarded in the GCC for being exceptionally easy to maintain, with parts availability surpassing that of European rivals like the Peugeot 208. The Baleno also offers a more generous boot capacity than many sub-compact hatchbacks in its class, making it a better fit for small families.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 5.4 L/100km, making it one of the most economical non-hybrid petrol cars in the UAE market. Suzuki hatchbacks maintain excellent value retention, typically depreciating by only 8-10% annually, which is significantly better than the segment average. The car benefits from a vast authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, with standard service intervals typically set at every 10,000 km.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre engine delivers a balanced 103 hp, providing a smooth and predictable drive suitable for both urban navigation and highway cruising at 120 km/h. Its lightweight HEARTECT platform results in a tight 10.2m turning circle, making it exceptionally easy to park in crowded Dubai or Abu Dhabi residential areas. While not a performance car, its 170 km/h top speed and stable handling ensure confidence during cross-emirate trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed with the GCC summer in mind, featuring a high-output air conditioning system and well-insulated glass to keep temperatures stable. Despite its compact exterior, the 5-seater layout provides surprising legroom for rear passengers, along with dedicated bottle holders in all four doors for hydration on long drives. The fabric seats are chosen for their durability and heat resistance, ensuring comfort even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight.

Safety

Standard safety features on this GL trim include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and Brake Assist to ensure controlled stopping in emergency situations. It also comes equipped with Hill Hold Control, which is particularly useful for navigating multi-story parking ramps in the region's shopping malls. ISOFIX child seat anchors are standard, ensuring the vehicle meets modern family safety requirements.

The bottom line

This 2024 Suzuki Baleno is the ideal opportunity for a budget-conscious professional or a small family looking for a reliable, GCC-spec commuter that won't lose its value quickly.
