Summary

This 2024 Model 3 Long Range represents the major 'Highland' refresh, offering significant improvements in cabin quietness and ride quality over earlier versions. As a Long Range AWD trim, it provides a dual-motor setup that balances sports-car acceleration with the highest efficiency available in the lineup. The black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale in the GCC market, especially when paired with the sleek new lighting signatures of the refreshed model. With the growing Supercharger network across the UAE and beyond, this is arguably the most practical long-distance EV for regional travel. It stands out by offering a refined, tech-forward experience that rivals traditional luxury sedans while maintaining significantly lower running costs.

This Car vs Other 2024 Model 3s

While 52,000 km is above the global average for a single year, it is typical for high-utilization GCC commuters who benefit from the massive fuel savings of an EV. This specific vehicle benefits from being the 'Highland' refresh, featuring acoustic glass and a redesigned suspension that makes it feel substantially newer than pre-2024 models. The black exterior is a safe and high-demand choice in the local used market, ensuring strong liquidity when you decide to upgrade.

Long Range vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the Long Range AWD over the standard RWD trim adds a second electric motor for all-wheel-drive stability and a larger 82 kWh battery pack. GCC buyers specifically benefit from the upgraded 17-speaker premium audio system and the inclusion of ventilated front seats, which are essential for summer comfort. Furthermore, this trim unlocks faster 250 kW DC charging, significantly reducing wait times at Superchargers during cross-country trips.

Model 3 vs Segment Rivals

The Model 3 leads segment rivals like the BMW i4 and Polestar 2 in charging infrastructure and software integration, specifically through the seamless Tesla Supercharger network available across the GCC. It offers superior interior storage and a dedicated 'frunk' not found in many converted combustion platforms, providing more practical space for family use. While European rivals focus on traditional luxury, the Tesla leads in range efficiency and frequent over-the-air updates that keep the vehicle's features current.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world efficiency in GCC conditions remains excellent, with the heat-pump system maintaining range even during peak summer temperatures. Tesla requires no traditional oil changes or transmission services; local maintenance typically involves annual cabin filter checks and tire rotations every 10,000 km. Authorized service centers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi provide specialized support, and the Model 3 historically retains its value better than almost any other EV in the region due to high demand and the 8-year battery warranty.

Performance & Capability

The dual-motor All-Wheel Drive system delivers a verified 0-100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving UAE highways. Its low center of gravity and instant torque make it remarkably agile in city traffic, while the 201 km/h top speed ensures stable high-speed cruising. Unlike many EVs, the Long Range trim is officially rated for a 1,000 kg braked towing capacity, adding a layer of versatility for light recreational use.

Comfort & Cabin

The 'Highland' cabin features a new 8-inch rear entertainment screen that allows second-row passengers to control climate and watch media, a major upgrade for family road trips. Standard ventilated seats and an improved 360-degree acoustic glass package significantly isolate passengers from the intense GCC heat and road noise. The minimalist interior is centered around a bright 15.4-inch display, handling everything from navigation to gaming during charging stops.

Safety

This model features Tesla's full ADAS suite, including Autosteer and Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, which are highly effective for reducing fatigue on the long, straight highways between Emirates. The vehicle is built with a fortified battery structure and side-impact protection that has helped it achieve top safety ratings globally. Standard features like blind-spot cameras that appear on the center screen when signaling are particularly useful in the fast-paced multi-lane traffic typical of Dubai and Riyadh.

The bottom line

For the tech-focused driver who covers long distances between cities, this refreshed Long Range AWD offers the perfect mix of high-end features and class-leading range. It is the most sensible way to enter the luxury EV market in the GCC without sacrificing performance or resale security.
