Summary

This 2024 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD is a compelling choice for UAE buyers, offering significantly lower running costs than petrol rivals while maintaining high performance. With 33,000 km, the mileage is slightly above the GCC annual average but remains well within the window of its comprehensive battery and drive unit warranty. The black exterior is one of the most sought-after colors in the regional used market, ensuring strong resale value and a professional aesthetic. As a GCC-spec model, it benefits from full compatibility with local Tesla service centers and the expanding Supercharger network across the Emirates. For those transitioning to electric, the Long Range trim provides the ideal balance of dual-motor stability and the distance capability needed for interstate travel.

This Car vs Other 2024 Model Ys

While the 33,000 km mileage is active for its first year, it reflects the car's primary use as a long-distance commuter, a role the Model Y excels in due to its Autopilot features. The black finish remains a top-tier resale color in the UAE, typically holding a value premium over less common or louder shades. As a 2024 model, it benefits from the latest software architecture and build refinements before the recent generation shifts.

LONG RANGE vs Lower Trims

Choosing the Long Range over the standard RWD adds a second electric motor for All-Wheel Drive, providing much better traction and stability on high-speed desert highways. This trim also unlocks the premium interior package, featuring a high-fidelity 13-speaker audio system with a subwoofer and dual amplifiers. Crucially for GCC summers, this trim includes heated front and rear seats and the full glass roof with advanced UV and infrared protection.

Model Y vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the BMW iX3 or the Audi Q4 e-tron, the Model Y leads significantly in charging infrastructure access via the Tesla Supercharger network. It offers superior cargo capacity with its unique 117-liter front trunk (frunk) and massive 854-liter rear boot. Tesla’s software-first approach also provides more frequent over-the-air updates than traditional European rivals, keeping the car's tech current.

Running Costs & Resale

Operating costs are remarkably low, with electricity costs in the UAE being a fraction of petrol prices for equivalent performance. Routine maintenance is minimal; Tesla recommends a cabin air filter change every 2 years and a brake fluid health check every 4 years. The GCC-spec status is a vital trust signal for local buyers, ensuring the 8-year or 192,000 km battery and drive unit warranty is fully honored by the regional service network.

Performance & Capability

The dual-motor setup delivers 372 hp, allowing for a swift 5.0-second 0–100 km/h sprint that makes highway overtaking effortless. With a top speed of 217 km/h and intelligent all-wheel drive, it handles sudden rain or sandy patches on the road with precision. The 250 kW DC charging capability means you can add up to 280 km of range in just 15 minutes at a V3 Supercharger, making cross-border trips between Emirates highly practical.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for modern minimalism, centered around a 15-inch touchscreen that controls everything from navigation to Netflix during charging sessions. The air conditioning system is exceptionally powerful, designed to handle extreme Gulf heat, and can be pre-conditioned via the Tesla app before you enter the car. Passengers enjoy ample legroom and a completely flat floor, which enhances the sense of space compared to petrol SUVs.

Safety

Standard safety features include the full Tesla Autopilot suite, which provides lane centering, adaptive cruise control, and collision avoidance—ideal for the long, multi-lane highways between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The vehicle achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, supported by 8 airbags and a low center of gravity that significantly reduces rollover risk. Its rigid structure and large crumple zones provide top-tier protection for all five occupants.

The bottom line

This 2024 Model Y Long Range is the perfect entry point for a GCC family looking to go electric without compromising on distance, backed by a robust local warranty and the best charging network in the region.
