Toyota Fortuner EXR

Highlights

• 279 mm ground clearance
• 80-litre fuel tank
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2024 Toyota Fortuner EXR offers a perfect balance of rugged 4x4 capability and family-friendly practicality, making it a staple on roads from Dubai to Riyadh. As a Japanese-spec model, it typically enters the market with lower-than-average mileage for its age, providing a fresh starting point for a buyer looking for Toyota's legendary durability. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the GCC, ensuring maximum heat reflection and a historically strong resale value when you decide to upgrade. While this 2.7L engine is built for efficiency and reliable commuting, it still benefits from the Fortuner’s body-on-frame architecture for weekend desert excursions. For the GCC buyer, the peace of mind provided by a massive regional parts network makes this a low-risk, high-utility choice for both city life and long-distance highway travel.

This Car vs Other 2024 Fortuners

With approximately 62,237 km, this Fortuner has seen active use typical of a regional workhorse, yet it remains well within the expected lifecycle for a modern Toyota. In the GCC market, where annual averages often hit 25,000 km, this vehicle represents a reliable midpoint between a showroom-fresh unit and a heavy-duty high-miler. The white paint is the optimal choice for the local climate, holding its value better than any other shade at resale.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR serves as the essential gateway to the Fortuner experience, providing standard four-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission that more basic export trims often lack. Unlike base commercial variants, the EXR includes essential comforts like an 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration and rear parking sensors. It prioritizes durability with hard-wearing fabric upholstery, which many GCC owners prefer for its ability to stay cool during extreme summer heat.

Fortuner vs Segment Rivals

The Fortuner leads rivals like the Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Nissan Terra when it comes to sheer resale liquidity and parts availability across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Its 80-litre fuel tank provides a significant range advantage for long desert highway hauls compared to smaller crossovers in this price bracket. Built on a Hilux-derived ladder frame, it offers genuine off-road durability that monocoque competitors simply cannot match.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7L engine typically averages between 10.5 and 12.4 L/100km, depending on your mix of stop-start city traffic and highway cruising. As a Japanese-spec import, buyers should note that while mechanical parts are identical to GCC models, service history is independent of the local Al-Futtaim network. Toyota retains the highest value in the GCC used market, with the Fortuner typically depreciating only 10-15% in its first two years.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 279 mm ground clearance, this Fortuner is designed to clear obstacles that would stop a standard crossover in its tracks. The 164 hp powertrain is tuned for reliable low-end torque, essential for navigating sandy terrain or steady highway cruising at 120 km/h. Its selectable Four-Wheel Drive system allows for easy transitions between fuel-efficient rear-wheel driving and high-traction 4x4 modes for off-road weekend adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a versatile 7-seat layout with a focus on cooling efficiency, including dedicated rear air conditioning vents that are vital for passenger comfort in the Gulf summer. The fabric seats are specifically chosen for their breathability in high temperatures, and the 80-litre tank ensures fewer stops during cross-emirate trips. Practical storage solutions and flat-folding rear seats make it a capable logistics partner for large families.

Safety

Safety is managed by a robust suite including seven airbags, Electronic Stability Control (VSC), and Hill-start Assist Control, which prevents the vehicle from rolling back on steep inclines. Standard ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution ensures stable stopping power on both paved highways and loose gravel tracks. This trim also includes rear parking sensors and a clear reversing camera, making it easy to maneuver this mid-size SUV in tight urban parking spaces.

The bottom line

This 2024 Fortuner is a smart choice for the budget-conscious buyer who needs Toyota reliability and 7-seat versatility without the premium price of a V6 GXR. For those prioritizing a newer model year with a high-demand color and 4x4 capability, this listing represents a solid long-term investment in the GCC market.
