Summary

This 2024 XC60 Core presents a significant buying opportunity, with its mileage sitting well below the typical 40,000–50,000 km expected for a two-year-old vehicle in the GCC. The exterior Blue finish is a sophisticated choice that maintains strong desirability in the local used market compared to standard white or silver. As a GCC-spec model, it features the factory-calibrated cooling and filtration systems essential for peak performance in regional heat. Volvo’s mild-hybrid B5 powertrain offers a refined, vibration-free experience during heavy stop-start traffic in cities like Dubai or Riyadh. This listing balances recent model-year technology with a significant reduction in initial depreciation, making it a pragmatic entry into the premium SUV segment.

This Car vs Other 2024 XC60s

With just 20,805 km, this vehicle has covered roughly half the distance of an average GCC commuter car of the same age. The Blue exterior provides a premium alternative to more common fleet colors, which can aid in faster resale later. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it retains full compatibility with local authorized service centers and regional warranty standards.

CORE vs Lower Trims

As the foundational luxury tier, the Core trim includes the essential panoramic sunroof and the Google built-in infotainment system that many base-level rivals lack. It standardizes All Wheel Drive (AWD) in the GCC, providing superior stability on gravel-dusted roads compared to front-wheel-drive alternatives. While higher trims add Nappa leather and ventilated seats, the Core’s durable upholstery is often preferred for its resistance to the intense UV exposure typical of the region.

XC60 vs Segment Rivals

The XC60 leads competitors like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 in standard safety technology, offering Pilot Assist and advanced collision mitigation as standard features. Its 71-litre fuel tank provides a longer highway range than many rivals, a major advantage for cross-emirate drives. The minimalist Scandinavian interior design offers a more relaxed environment for long commutes compared to the tech-heavy cabins of German counterparts.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the B5 powertrain typically averages 7.6 L/100km, though GCC city driving may see this rise toward 9.5 L/100km due to heavy AC usage. Volvo’s presence in the GCC is supported by established dealer networks like Al Futtaim, ensuring specialized parts are readily available. Expected depreciation for a 2-year-old Volvo in the UAE is approximately 12–15% annually, which is stable for the premium European segment.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers a prompt 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.9 seconds, providing confident overtaking power on fast-moving highways like the E11. All-wheel drive comes standard, ensuring grip during occasional rain-slicked roads or weekend trips to light desert terrain. The 48V mild-hybrid system is specifically designed to harvest energy during braking, powering the cabin electronics to reduce engine load during extreme summer temperatures.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a dedicated 5-seater with class-leading ergonomics and a vertical 9-inch touchscreen featuring native Google Maps, which is highly reliable for local navigation. Dual-zone climate control and dedicated rear air vents ensure consistent cooling for all passengers even when temperatures exceed 45°C. The generous 613-litre boot capacity easily accommodates family grocery runs or weekend travel gear without folding the seats.

Safety

Safety is central to the XC60, which carries a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and a full suite of ADAS features. Standard equipment includes Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross Traffic Alert, which is vital for multi-lane highway driving, and a Lane Keeping Aid that assists during long desert stretches. The vehicle also features Volvo’s Whiplash Injury Protection System (WHIPS) and a comprehensive airbag arrangement, including a driver-side knee airbag.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a professional or small family seeking a nearly-new premium SUV that avoids the steep first-year depreciation hit while offering significantly lower mileage than the market average.
