Summary

This 2025 BYD Tang Flagship is a virtually new plug-in hybrid SUV with only 23 km on the odometer, offering a perfect entry point for families transitioning to electrified driving without range anxiety. Finished in a resale-friendly Grey, the Flagship trim represents the highest luxury specification, featuring advanced tech like the signature rotating display and premium cabin materials. The 5th-generation DM-i hybrid system provides over 1,000 km of total range, making it exceptionally well-suited for long-distance highway travel across the GCC. As a 7-seater, it bridges the gap between a daily city commuter and a long-haul family cruiser with significantly lower running costs than traditional V6 rivals.

This Car vs Other 2025 Tangs

With just 23 km, this Tang is in identical condition to a showroom-fresh vehicle but avoids the immediate first-owner depreciation. While many 2025 models are now entering the used market with delivery mileage, this example stands out in Grey, a color that consistently commands higher resale values in the UAE and Saudi markets compared to bolder shades. Its status as a Flagship trim ensures it holds better value than entry-level variants which lack the high-demand tech features.

FLAGSHIP vs Lower Trims

The Flagship trim upgrades the ownership experience with the largest 15.6-inch adaptive rotating screen and the full DiPilot driver assistance suite, including 360° surround-view cameras essential for maneuvering a large SUV. It adds ventilated and heated front seats—a critical comfort feature for the GCC summer—and a premium 12-speaker audio system not found on the base models. You also benefit from the extended 215 km electric range, nearly double that of the entry-level 112 km versions.

Tang vs Segment Rivals

The BYD Tang leads rivals like the Kia Sorento PHEV and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV with a significantly longer electric-only range of up to 215 km, allowing for fuel-free commutes within most GCC cities. Its 420 hp combined output provides superior overtaking power on fast-moving highways compared to traditional 4-cylinder competitors. Additionally, the Tang’s innovative Blade Battery technology is specifically engineered for high thermal stability, a major advantage in the extreme heat of the region.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption stays remarkably low, often averaging under 5.0L/100km when utilizing the hybrid system in GCC city traffic. The 53-litre fuel tank combined with the 21.5 kWh battery provides massive range between refills, perfect for cross-border trips. Maintenance is streamlined through growing authorized networks in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with service intervals typically set at 20,000 km. While Chinese EVs are a maturing segment, BYD's market dominance helps it retain approximately 60% of its value after three years.

Performance & Capability

Delivering a total of 420 hp from its 1.5-litre turbo hybrid powertrain, the Tang feels surprisingly agile for a 7-seat SUV, handling highway merging and high-speed cruising with ease. It features selectable drive modes to optimize between pure EV stealth and maximum hybrid power for mountain or highway inclines. The front-wheel-drive setup is tuned for on-road refinement and efficiency, providing a smooth, quiet ride that mimics a pure luxury electric vehicle during daily use.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a true 7-seater with a flexible 2-3-2 layout and high-quality synthetic leather throughout. Ventilated front seats and a dual-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents ensure all passengers stay cool during peak summer months. Tech is centered around the 15.6-inch rotating screen which supports high-definition navigation and entertainment, while the panoramic sunroof features thermal coating to reduce heat soak while keeping the interior bright.

Safety

Safety is a priority with the Flagship’s full ADAS suite, featuring adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keep assist—all vital for the multi-lane highway driving common in Dubai and Riyadh. The vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive 360° camera system and multiple airbags as standard. Its structural integrity is underpinned by the Blade Battery, which serves as a reinforced part of the chassis for enhanced side-impact protection.

The bottom line

This 2025 BYD Tang Flagship is the ideal choice for a tech-forward family looking for a new-car experience with significant fuel savings and zero range anxiety. It offers the highest possible spec and the longest electric range in its class, making it a standout value opportunity in the current GCC hybrid market.
