Summary

This 2025 GAC EMKOO GL represents an exceptional opportunity to own a nearly-new, high-tech crossover without the initial showroom depreciation. With just over 20,000 km, the mileage is slightly below the GCC annual average, ensuring it remains in peak mechanical condition for the local heat. The black exterior is a premier resale color in the UAE and Saudi markets, maintaining strong demand for future trade-ins. Standing out with its 'Mecha' design and a 177 hp turbocharged engine, it offers a more futuristic alternative to standard segment rivals. For GCC buyers, the robust air conditioning system and ventilated seating are essential features that make this specific trim a smart, comfort-first investment.

This Car vs Other 2025 EMKOOs

With 20,565 km on the odometer, this EMKOO has been driven conservatively compared to the typical 25,000 km annual average seen in the GCC. The black paintwork is a significant asset in the local used market, typically commanding faster resale times and better price retention than brighter palettes. Choosing this 2025 model over a brand-new 2026 unit provides the same current-generation technology and powertrain while avoiding the steepest part of the depreciation curve.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim is a significant step up from the base GE, adding the 360° surround-view camera and a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite including Adaptive Cruise Control. Inside, GCC buyers benefit from the addition of ventilated front seats and a premium 6-speaker audio system. It also replaces the standard 18-inch wheels with more aggressive 19-inch alloys and adds a panoramic sunroof, features that are highly sought after in the regional used market.

EMKOO vs Segment Rivals

The EMKOO competes directly with the Geely Coolray and MG RX5, leading with its distinctive 'Eye of Revelation' LED lighting and a superior wheelbase that offers more interior legroom for families. Its 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is engineered for better durability in high-temperature stop-start traffic compared to rivals using dry-clutch or CVT systems. Additionally, GAC’s focus on cabin insulation provides a quieter highway experience on long inter-city drives between the Emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.5L turbocharged engine delivers a balanced 6.8 L/100km, which is efficient for daily commuting in Dubai or Riyadh. GAC has established a strong service presence across the GCC through major distributors like Gargash in the UAE and Aljomaih in Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts and expert technicians are readily available. While European rivals may depreciate by up to 18% annually, GAC’s rising brand trust in the Gulf keeps its retention closer to 12-14% at the three-year mark.

Performance & Capability

The 177 hp 'Mega Wave' engine allows for a brisk 0-100 km/h sprint in just 7.0 seconds, providing plenty of power for merging onto fast-moving GCC highways. The chassis is tuned with a MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension, offering a stable ride even during high-speed cross-winds on open desert roads. Three selectable drive modes—Eco, Comfort, and Sport—allow you to adjust throttle response to suit either fuel-saving city crawls or spirited weekend drives.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed for the Middle Eastern climate, the cabin features powerful multi-zone automatic air conditioning with dedicated rear vents to keep all five passengers cool. The GL trim's leatherette seats are equipped with cooling ventilation in the front, an absolute necessity for summer driving in the region. The interior is highlighted by a 10.1-inch smart display with Apple CarPlay, a crystal-design gear shifter, and ambient lighting that enhances the futuristic cockpit feel.

Safety

Safety is anchored by a high-strength steel body and a full suite of six airbags. The GL trim includes advanced systems such as Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Keeping Assist, which are particularly valuable for maintaining safety on multi-lane highways. It also features a 360° camera and rear sensors to make parking in tight urban spaces effortless, while the Tire Pressure Monitoring System ensures you're always alerted to heat-related pressure changes.

The bottom line

This EMKOO GL is the ideal choice for a tech-savvy professional or a small family looking for a standout SUV with GCC-specific comforts and a full suite of modern safety tech.
