Summary

This 2025 GAC EMKOO GL offers a futuristic driving experience with significantly lower mileage than typical GCC annual averages, making it an excellent nearly-new opportunity. As the mid-spec trim, the GL balances premium technology like a 360-degree camera with the efficiency of a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. The Silver exterior is one of the strongest resale colors in the region, standing up well to the intense desert sun and dust. In a segment often defined by conservative designs, the EMKOO stands out with its sharp 'mecha-style' aesthetics and high-tech cockpit. For a buyer in the UAE, this represents a high-spec crossover that is still under its extensive 5-year manufacturer warranty.

This Car vs Other 2025 EMKOOs

With just over 28,000 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the 40,000–50,000 km typically expected for two-year-old cars in the GCC. The Silver paint is a high-demand choice for local resale, as it masks desert dust and reflects heat more efficiently than darker shades. Its condition and low usage make it a prime candidate for those seeking a new-car feel without the new-car price tag.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim adds critical comfort and safety features that GCC buyers value, most notably the 360-degree bird's-eye view camera for effortless parking in tight city spots. It upgrades the cabin with a larger 10.1-inch multifunctional touchscreen and ambient lighting compared to the entry-level GS. Additionally, the GL typically includes upgraded 19-inch alloy wheels and a more comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems standard.

EMKOO vs Segment Rivals

The GAC EMKOO competes directly with the Geely Coolray and MG RX5, leading the group with its radical 'diamond-cut' exterior design and superior cabin tech. Its 2,750 mm wheelbase provides more rear legroom than many rivals in the compact SUV class, making it a better fit for families. The 55-litre fuel tank combined with its efficient turbo engine offers a longer highway range for inter-emirate travel than several competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a major strength, achieving approximately 16.1 km/L, which helps manage costs during long commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Service intervals are set at 10,000 km, supported by GAC's expanding authorized network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While Chinese brands typically depreciate faster than Japanese rivals, the EMKOO's growing popularity and 5-year/150,000 km warranty help it retain value better than earlier Chinese imports.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces a punchy 177 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque, ensuring confident highway overtaking. Power is delivered through a smooth 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission designed to handle the high-heat stop-start traffic typical of Dubai and Riyadh. Multiple drive modes, including Sport and Eco, allow you to tailor the vehicle’s response to city streets or open desert highways.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a high-tech 'cocoon' featuring leatherette seats and dedicated rear climate vents, which are essential for maintaining comfort during the peak GCC summer. A massive panoramic sunroof brightens the cabin, while the 10.1-inch infotainment system supports seamless smartphone integration via CarPlay. Noise insulation is particularly impressive for this segment, providing a quiet environment even at highway speeds.

Safety

This GL trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including six airbags and advanced ADAS features like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Keep Assist. The 360-degree camera system is paired with rear parking sensors to mitigate blind spots in busy multi-lane traffic. Stability control and Hill-Start Assist come standard, ensuring the vehicle remains composed on the varied road surfaces found across the region.

The bottom line

This EMKOO GL is the ideal choice for a tech-focused professional or small family looking for a standout SUV that remains well within its factory warranty period. It offers the best balance of low mileage, high-demand color, and premium features currently available in the pre-owned market.
