HONGQI EHS9 FLAGSHIP

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds
• 660 km electric range (CLTC)
• Four seats with second-row captain chairs

Summary

This 2025 Hongqi E-HS9 Flagship represents a unique opportunity to own a nearly-new executive electric SUV at a significant offset from its initial showroom price. As a one-year-old vehicle, it has already cleared the steepest part of its depreciation curve while offering the rarest and most desirable four-seat configuration. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the GCC, ensuring strong resale liquidity when you eventually decide to upgrade. In a region where presence and cabin cooling are paramount, the E-HS9 stands out with a footprint larger than most European rivals and a specialized focus on rear-passenger luxury. For a buyer in the UAE or KSA, this listing offers a sophisticated alternative to the typical luxury SUV, combining silent electric performance with a cabin designed for chauffeur-driven comfort.

This Car vs Other 2025 E-HS9s

While many 2025 models in the UAE are configured with 6 or 7 seats for family use, this Flagship trim features the exclusive 4-seat layout, placing it in the same executive tier as a Maybach or Range Rover SV. One-year-old mileage in the GCC typically reflects light city use or occasional inter-emirate highway trips, leaving the 120 kWh battery in peak health. The black paintwork is the most resilient choice for local resale, consistently outperforming lighter or experimental colors in the secondary market.

Flagship vs Lower Trims

The Flagship trim is a significant jump over the Executive or Deluxe variants, primarily defined by the transition from a family SUV to a luxury limousine. It replaces the bench or standard captain chairs with two individual, multi-way power-adjustable rear seats featuring integrated footrests, massage functions, and dedicated ventilation. You also gain a higher-fidelity audio system and additional digital displays that are not standard on the 7-seater models, making it the preferred choice for executive transport.

E-HS9 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Tesla Model X or BMW iX, the Hongqi leads with sheer physical presence and rear-seat legroom that rivals a long-wheelbase sedan. While the Tesla focuses on software and the BMW on driving dynamics, the E-HS9 is built for passenger isolation, offering a more traditional sense of luxury through heavy soundproofing and high-quality leather. Its 120 kWh battery is one of the largest in the segment, providing a necessary buffer for the high energy demands of GCC cabin cooling during summer.

Running Costs & Resale

Electricity costs for a full charge at DEWA or ADDC stations are roughly 75-80% lower than filling a comparable V8 petrol SUV, leading to massive savings for high-mileage commuters. Chinese-spec models like this one require careful verification of service compatibility at authorized centers such as Al Tawkilat, though the mechanical simplicity of the EV powertrain significantly reduces routine maintenance costs compared to European luxury cars. Annual depreciation for the E-HS9 in the GCC is typically higher than Japanese luxury brands but offers a much lower entry point for buyers looking for flagship features.

Performance & Capability

Despite its substantial 2.7-ton curb weight, the 543 hp dual-motor system launches the E-HS9 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, ensuring effortless merging onto fast-moving highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The air suspension is tuned for 'waftability,' soaking up road imperfections to provide a stabilized ride even at its 200 km/h top speed. The All Wheel Drive system provides confident traction on gravel access roads or during rare regional rainstorms, though its primary role is managing the instant torque of the electric motors.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is dominated by a wall-to-wall digital cockpit and a dedicated rear-seat climate zone that is essential for surviving 45°C summers. In this 4-seat configuration, rear passengers enjoy a refrigerator for beverages and a center console that controls almost every aspect of the vehicle's comfort settings. High-quality acoustic glass ensures that the interior remains a silent sanctuary, isolated from the noise of city traffic and wind shear at highway speeds.

Safety

This Flagship trim comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite including adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, which are particularly effective for long desert highway drives. The 360-degree camera system is a critical inclusion for a vehicle of this size, making parking in tight Dubai or Riyadh malls much more manageable. Multiple airbags and high-strength steel construction provide a safe environment for all four occupants, while blind-spot monitoring helps navigate the fast-moving multi-lane traffic common across the GCC.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a professional or executive looking for a 'private jet' experience on the road without the million-dirham price tag of European equivalents. At one year old, this Flagship trim offers the perfect balance of modern EV tech and high-end luxury in the GCC's favorite resale color.
