Summary

This 2025 Riddara RD6 Ultra X represents the cutting edge of the growing EV pickup segment in the GCC. Finished in a resale-friendly Grey, this flagship trim offers the maximum 86 kWh battery capacity, significantly outperforming base models in range and utility. As a lifestyle-oriented 4x4, it blends the acceleration of a sports car with a substantial 865 kg payload, making it an ideal choice for outdoor enthusiasts who want zero-emission adventure. Backed by the Geely Group and distributed through established local networks like AGMC, this pickup is specifically engineered and tested to handle the extreme summer heat of the UAE.

This Car vs Other 2025 RD6s

As a 2025 model, this RD6 represents the latest generation of Geely’s M.A.P. architecture, benefiting from the most up-to-date thermal management systems. While many RD6 units on the market are the rear-wheel-drive variants, this Ultra X features the rare dual-motor AWD setup, doubling the horsepower of the standard trim. The Grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice in the GCC, ensuring stronger value retention compared to the louder launch colors.

ULTRA X vs Lower Trims

The Ultra X is the flagship specification, adding the 86 kWh extended-range battery over the 73 kWh unit found in the Air trim. Beyond performance, it introduces premium features essential for the GCC climate, including ventilated leatherette seats and an openable panoramic sunroof. Technology is also upgraded with a larger 14.6-inch infotainment display and an 8-speaker premium audio system not available on entry-level models.

RD6 vs Segment Rivals

The RD6 leads the electric pickup segment in on-road performance, comfortably beating the Maxus T90 EV in both 0-100 km/h sprint times and payload capacity. Unlike the ladder-frame BYD Shark PHEV, the Riddara utilizes a monocoque chassis that provides a much smoother, SUV-like ride quality on Dubai’s multi-lane highways. Its 815 mm wading depth also gives it a distinct advantage during the region’s occasional heavy rainfall and flash flooding.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are exceptionally low compared to traditional petrol pickups like the Hilux, with the 86 kWh battery costing significantly less to fully charge via DEWA or household infrastructure than a full tank of Super 98. Maintenance is simplified due to the electric powertrain, with typical service intervals focused on tires, brakes, and cabin filters. As part of the Geely Group, the RD6 benefits from AGMC’s extensive service network in the UAE, providing better long-term resale security than independent EV imports.

Performance & Capability

The 422 hp dual-motor system delivers a blistering 0-100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds, providing instant overtaking power on the E11. With 595 Nm of torque available immediately, the Ultra X handles heavy loads and steep gradients with ease. It features seven dedicated driving modes, including Sand and Mud, allowing the intelligent AWD system to optimize traction for weekend desert escapes or off-road camping.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed with a premium, passenger-car feel that stands in stark contrast to work-focused trucks. Crucial for the GCC, the advanced climate control system was rigorously tested in the UAE summer heat and can be pre-cooled via a dedicated smartphone app. The 1,200L rear bed is complemented by a 70L front trunk ('frunk') and 48L of hidden storage under the rear seats, providing versatile space for family road trips.

Safety

The Ultra X comes equipped with a comprehensive Level 2+ ADAS suite, including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Blind Spot Monitoring, which are vital for fast-moving GCC highway traffic. The vehicle is built with 70% high-strength steel and features six airbags as standard, ensuring maximum protection for all five occupants. Adaptive Cruise Control further enhances safety and comfort during long inter-city drives between Emirates.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer looking to transition to electric without sacrificing the utility of a 4x4 pickup, this flagship Ultra X is the most complete package currently on the market. It offers a unique combination of supercar acceleration and genuine workhorse capability, backed by a trusted local service network.
