Summary

This 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 78 40th Anniversary edition offers a rare combination of the legendary 'Troop Carrier' utility with the modern convenience of a 6-speed automatic transmission. As a GCC-spec model with very low mileage for its year, it represents a high-value asset for serious overlanders or commercial operators who require mechanical simplicity that thrives in extreme heat. The beige exterior is historically the most sought-after color for the 70 Series in the region, ensuring maximum heat reflection and superior resale demand. With its unique 40th Anniversary styling and the bulletproof 4.0L V6, this vehicle stands apart from the common diesel variants often found in the market. It remains the definitive choice for those who prioritize functional longevity and vertical market demand across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

This Car vs Other 2025 Land Cruiser 70s

With just 18,033 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits well below the typical annual mileage for a GCC utility 4x4, which often exceeds 25,000 km. The 40th Anniversary trim adds collectible appeal and unique interior finishing not found on standard LC78 units. Its beige exterior remains the gold standard for resale value in the local market, making it a safer long-term investment than less traditional colors.

LC 78 40TH ANNIVERSARY 4.0L AT vs Lower Trims

The 40th Anniversary edition elevates the utilitarian LC78 with a wood-grain interior package, special anniversary badging, and an updated 9-inch display audio system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Unlike the base troop carriers, this trim includes a factory-fitted snorkel and cruise control, which are vital for long-distance desert expeditions and highway cruising across the Emirates.

Land Cruiser 70 vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Nissan Patrol Super Safari offer more cabin refinement, the Land Cruiser 78 leads the segment with its massive 180-litre dual-tank range and 9-passenger seating capacity. Its mechanical purity and lack of complex electronics make it significantly easier to service in remote areas compared to the Land Rover Defender or modern Land Cruiser 300 series.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 petrol engine is engineered for longevity and is compatible with widely available 91 RON fuel across the GCC. Owners benefit from the region's most extensive authorized service network, with maintenance intervals typically every 10,000 km. This specific model year and trim combination historically retains over 85% of its value after three years in the UAE market, outperforming almost every other SUV in its class.

Performance & Capability

The 228 hp V6 provides immediate low-end torque, essential for navigating soft sand and steep dunes. The 6-speed automatic transmission features a 'Power Haul' mode, making it exceptionally capable for towing heavy equipment through challenging terrain. With a high ground clearance and a part-time 4WD system including a manual transfer lever, it offers the raw mechanical control required for serious off-grid use.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is configured as a high-capacity wagon with durable fabric seating for 9 or more passengers, featuring parallel rear benches ideal for crew transport. The high-output air conditioning system is specifically designed for 45°C+ temperatures, ensuring the cavernous cabin stays cool even during peak summer. The 40th Anniversary trim adds a touch of executive feel with wood-grain accents on the dashboard and steering wheel.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense features, including a Pre-Collision System and Lane Departure Alert, which are rare in the utilitarian 70 Series lineup. Standard safety includes dual front airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) to prevent rollback on steep inclines. Active Traction Control (A-TRC) further enhances safety by managing wheel spin on slippery gravel and desert surfaces.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who needs a legendary 'Troopy' that is easy to drive in city traffic but ready for a cross-border expedition at a moment's notice, this low-mileage 40th Anniversary edition is an unbeatable opportunity.
