Summary

The 2026 Geely Cityray GC represents the brand's latest effort in the subcompact SUV segment, offering a sophisticated balance of performance and fuel efficiency. As a brand-new model for this year, it stands out with a 1.5L turbocharged engine that provides punchy acceleration for city driving while maintaining low running costs. The Grey exterior is a versatile and popular choice in the GCC market, ensuring strong resale interest in the future. This GC trim is particularly appealing for buyers who want modern digital tech and a spacious 571-litre boot without the premium cost of higher luxury grades. For GCC owners, its combination of efficient cooling and a punchy turbo engine makes it a reliable companion for both emirate-hopping and daily urban commutes.

This Car vs Other 2026 Cityrays

Being a 2026 model, this Cityray is in showroom condition with zero mileage, a significant advantage over other units that may have already accumulated standard GCC annual usage of 20,000 km. The Grey paint is highly favored for its ability to hide desert dust while retaining strong resale value across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

GC vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for this model, the GC provides the core technology suite that defines the Cityray experience, including the massive 13.2-inch central display and a 10.25-inch digital cluster. Unlike base models in previous generations, this trim includes essential GCC comforts like dedicated rear A/C vents and cruise control as standard equipment.

Cityray vs Segment Rivals

The Cityray competes directly with the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Tucson, leading many rivals with a superior 571-litre boot capacity. Its 172 hp turbocharged engine offers more responsive overtaking power than the naturally aspirated units often found in entry-level competitors, making it better suited for fast-moving GCC highways.

Running Costs & Resale

The Cityray is exceptionally efficient, with a combined fuel rating of 6.3 L/100km, which translates to roughly 15.9 km per litre. Geely has established an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and KSA, ensuring parts availability and consistent service intervals of 10,000 km. While Chinese SUVs typically see higher initial depreciation than Japanese brands, the Cityray's modern tech helps it retain value better than older crossovers in the used market.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine delivers a stout 290 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of just 7.9 seconds. Power is delivered through a smooth 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) that is optimized for both low-speed city traffic and high-speed highway cruising. With 200 mm of ground clearance, it handles speed bumps and unpaved suburban roads with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around a digital-first philosophy, dominated by a portrait-style 13.2-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity. Despite being a compact SUV, the 2701 mm wheelbase provides generous legroom for five adult passengers. Standard fabric seats in the GC trim are durable and better suited for the extreme GCC summer heat than darker leather alternatives.

Safety

The GC trim focuses on essential active safety, featuring dual front airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Traction Control as standard. It also includes helpful daily aids like a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) which is vital for maintaining safety during long-distance desert drives.

The bottom line

This 2026 Geely Cityray GC is the perfect choice for a tech-savvy buyer looking for a brand-new, fuel-efficient SUV with a full manufacturer warranty and a class-leading infotainment system.
