Summary

The 2026 Geely Cityray GC enters the GCC market as a highly competitive compact SUV, offering a blend of modern design and verified performance that challenges segment mainstays. As a brand-new 0-year-old vehicle, this specific GC trim provides a high-tech entry point with Geely's latest digital cockpit architecture and a punchy 172 hp turbocharged engine. The Blue exterior is a refreshing and distinctive choice for the region, typically performing well in urban resale markets like Dubai and Riyadh. For GCC buyers, the standout factor is the inclusion of premium cabin tech and a sophisticated 7-speed dual-clutch transmission at a price point that undercuts Japanese rivals. It represents a strategic buy for those prioritizing a modern, tech-forward daily driver with strong local dealer support.

This Car vs Other 2026 Cityrays

As a 2026 model, this Cityray features the latest software updates for the GKUI infotainment system and improved thermal management for GCC conditions. Being a 0-year-old vehicle, it represents the freshest mechanical state available on the used market. The Blue exterior provides a modern alternative to the common white or silver, maintaining strong curb appeal in major GCC metropolitan areas.

GC vs Lower Trims

The GC serves as the well-equipped entry trim for the Cityray lineup, standardizing the massive 13.2-inch 2K touchscreen and the 10.2-inch digital cluster that define the model's interior. While higher trims add a panoramic roof and ventilated seats, the GC retains the core mechanical performance and the essential ADAS features GCC drivers rely on. It offers the most efficient way to access Geely's Compact Modular Architecture without the premium cost of upper-tier aesthetics.

Cityray vs Segment Rivals

The Cityray leads rivals like the Haval H6 and MG HS with its superior screen resolution and a highly responsive 7-speed wet DCT. Its 2,701 mm wheelbase provides class-competitive rear legroom, a vital factor for GCC family road trips. While traditional Japanese competitors often use CVTs, the Cityray's dual-clutch setup offers a more engaging and direct driving feel on the highway.

Running Costs & Resale

With a combined fuel consumption of 6.3 L/100km, the Cityray is one of the more efficient turbocharged SUVs for stop-start city traffic in the UAE and KSA. The 51-litre tank is sized appropriately for long-distance highway hauls between emirates. Service is supported by an expanding authorized network across the GCC, with parts availability becoming increasingly robust. As a 2026 model, it benefits from a long-term manufacturer warranty, significantly protecting its resale value over the first three years of ownership.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine delivers a verified 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds, making it surprisingly quick for a family crossover. The 290 Nm of torque is available low in the rev range, which is ideal for overtaking on fast-moving GCC highways. Four selectable drive modes—Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Smart—allow you to tailor the powertrain response to specific local driving conditions, from heavy traffic to open desert roads.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around a 13.2-inch 2K vertical display that manages almost all vehicle functions, creating a clean and button-free environment. Standard rear cooling vents ensure passenger comfort during the peak GCC summer months, while the 571-litre boot space is ample for grocery runs or family weekend luggage. Acoustic materials have been upgraded for the 2026 model year to better isolate the cabin from exterior heat and road noise during long commutes.

Safety

The Cityray GC comes equipped with a solid safety foundation including electronic stability control, traction control, and a rear-view camera system with parking sensors. It features essential active safety tech such as Cruise Control and Auto Hold, which are particularly useful for the long, straight highway stretches common in the region. The high-strength steel body construction provides peace of mind for family use in high-speed traffic environments.

The bottom line

This 2026 Geely Cityray GC is the ideal choice for a tech-savvy urban professional or small family looking for a brand-new, performance-oriented SUV that maximizes features-per-dirham in the current GCC market.
