Summary

This 2026 Toyota Hilux GL is the ultimate choice for those requiring a reliable workhorse with the added convenience of an automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. As a GCC spec vehicle in the high-resale White exterior, it represents one of the most liquid assets in the regional automotive market. The 2.4L turbo-diesel engine is specifically engineered for longevity and fuel efficiency, making it ideal for both commercial fleet use and personal utility. Compared to petrol rivals, this diesel powertrain offers superior low-end torque, essential for hauling heavy loads across the varying terrain of the UAE and beyond. Owning a Hilux in the GCC ensures peace of mind through unmatched parts availability and a service network that spans even the most remote areas.

This Car vs Other 2026 Hiluxs

With zero kilometers on the odometer, this 2026 model represents a brand-new entry into the market, avoiding the high mileage typical of used work trucks in the region. The White exterior is the most sought-after color for heat reflection and resale value in the Middle East. Choosing this diesel automatic configuration provides a rare balance of heavy-duty capability and daily drivability compared to the more common manual base models.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim bridges the gap between basic utility and daily comfort, featuring power windows and central locking which are often absent on entry-level fleet versions. It includes a multi-information display and steering wheel-mounted controls for audio and telephone, enhancing safety during long highway drives. Unlike the base commercial trims, the GL often features improved cabin materials and a more refined dashboard layout suitable for multi-purpose use.

Hilux vs Segment Rivals

While the Mitsubishi L200 and Isuzu D-MAX are strong contenders, the Hilux leads in terms of total cost of ownership and ease of maintenance across the GCC. Its 80-litre fuel tank provides a significant range advantage for cross-border travel between the Emirates and Saudi Arabia. The Hilux also maintains a higher resale floor than its American competitors, like the Ford Ranger, due to its legendary mechanical simplicity.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.4L diesel engine delivers an efficient real-world consumption of approximately 8.5 to 9.5 L/100km, which is significantly more economical than petrol V6 alternatives during stop-start city traffic. As a GCC-spec Toyota, it benefits from the most extensive service network in the region, with authorized centers in every major city from Abu Dhabi to Muscat. The Hilux typically experiences the lowest annual depreciation in its segment, often retaining over 80% of its value after three years of service.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a robust 3,500 kg braked towing capacity, this Hilux is designed to handle the toughest recovery and transport tasks. The selectable Four-Wheel Drive system includes a low-range transfer case, providing the necessary torque for navigating soft sand or steep inclines. Its heavy-duty leaf spring rear suspension is engineered to maintain vehicle level even when the bed is loaded to its maximum payload capacity.

Comfort & Cabin

The double-cab configuration comfortably seats five, featuring a high-output air conditioning system specifically tuned to cope with 45°C+ GCC summers. Durable fabric upholstery is used throughout the cabin to handle dust and intense sunlight better than leather, while the PVC flooring ensures easy cleaning after site visits or desert trips. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents, a vital feature for family or crew comfort during long daytime journeys.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of active systems including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), which are essential for maintaining traction on loose gravel and sand. The Hilux is built on an immensely strong body-on-frame chassis and comes standard with dual front airbags and ABS. Trailer Sway Control (TSC) is also included, providing additional stability when hauling heavy equipment on fast-moving highways.

The bottom line

This Hilux is the perfect match for a GCC buyer who needs a brand-new, high-capability pickup that will hold its value better than almost any other vehicle on the road today.
