BYD Ti 7 Launched In The UAE: PHEV SUV With 870km Range Starting At AED 156,900

Al-Futtaim BYD has launched the all-new BYD Ti 7 in the UAE. The new plug-in hybrid SUV enters the market as a large, feature-rich family SUV with strong performance, long range, and off-road-inspired capability.

BYD calls the Ti 7 an “Urban Adventure SUV”, and the positioning makes sense for the UAE. The SUV uses BYD’s plug-in hybrid system, combining a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with two electric motors and all-wheel drive.

Lucas Bellieud, Managing Director, Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility, said: “The PHEV segment in the UAE is growing, and customer expectations within it are rising. Adding the Ti 7 to our lineup is a deliberate move to ensure we have the right product for drivers who want the flexibility of hybrid technology in a capable, lifestyle-oriented SUV.”

Price, Variants And Colour Options

The BYD Ti 7 is available in two variants in the UAE. The SUV is now available for test drives at Al-Futtaim BYD showrooms across the country.

The Ti 7 is offered with seven exterior colour options:

• Jungle Green
• Star & Moon Silver
• Atlantis Grey
• Sunrise Gold
• Obsidian Black
• Emerald Green
• Titanium Metallic Grey

Interior colour options include:

• Black & Brown

Exterior Design

The BYD Ti 7 has a bold and boxy SUV design. It does not follow the usual rounded crossover look. Instead, it gets a more upright shape, strong body lines, and a rugged stance.

BYD refers to the design theme as “Interstellar Ark”. The SUV features H-shaped Ti Energy headlights, star-like Ti-Energy taillights, large glass areas, and a clean side profile. The large windows take up around one-third of the side door area, improving outward visibility.

The BYD Ti 7 is a large five-seat SUV. Its size gives it a strong road presence and also helps create a spacious cabin.

Interior Looks

The BYD Ti 7’s interior is focused more on comfort than sportiness. The cabin uses a mix of leather and metal-style materials, along with ambient lighting and a wide dashboard layout.

The cabin feels spacious, especially in the second row. Rear seat space is one of the biggest highlights, and it feels close to what some luxury sedans offer. This makes the Ti 7 a strong option for families, chauffeur-driven buyers, and long-distance users in the UAE.

The BYD Ti 7 comes with a long list of technology and convenience features. The cabin is built around a large central touchscreen, a digital driver display, and a head-up display on the Premium trim.

First Drive Review: Driving Impressions

As a part of the launch event, we got to experience the car for a short period. The BYD Ti 7 feels smooth and refined, as expected from a BYD hybrid. Steering feel is good for the segment, with enough weight for confidence while still being easy to use in the city. 

The Race mode feels unusual in a large SUV, but it is fun. It only activates after a full stop, turns the screen bright red, and adds fast-motion-style animations. Outside Race mode, acceleration feels more relaxed than the numbers suggest.

The DiSus-C suspension is impressive. In Comfort mode, the ride is very soft and can feel slightly bouncy, so handling is not at its sharpest. Change the DiSus setting, and it firms up quickly, reducing body roll well. 

The Ti 7 can also run in pure EV mode. During our drive, once the EV range dropped to around 8km, the engine started automatically and began charging the battery. Stay tuned for a more detailed review and a video as we’re set to get our hands on it for a few days soon.
