Free parking in UAE

As the majority of the work force has been asked to work from home and parking being a concern amongst a good portion of the population, the respected Authorities in their Emirates have taken swift action to ease the population.

And they’ve done it by making parking free. Not all Emirates have announced this great news, but atleast four of them did.

Announced on Monday the 30th of March 2020, parking fines in Abu Dhabi were waived for three weeks as per an announcement on social media.

In the social media post, the authorities also mentioned, “subject to revision of extension” leading to the possibility of ‘free parking’ being extended or cancelled in the coming weeks.

Dubai residents can also enjoy free parking on the road and multi-storey car parks up to the 13th of April 2020 according to a tweet by the Dubai Media Office.

Before DXB Media office made the announcement, parking in Dubai was free only during the stylization period (8 pm to 6 am)

Sharjah Municipality announced earlier in the week that free parking is available in public areas until further notice.

Even though parking has been made free, the Sharjah Municipality has urged residents to stay home and to avoid crowded places and gatherings.

They also urged the community that inspectors will still be keeping a watchful eye and will ticket anyone double parking or any other form of unlawful parking.

Parking in Ajman was free up until the end of March in the Emirate as per the Ajman Municipality and Planning department.

There is no mention on their social channels if the exemption of parking fees has been waived.

The decision to waive parking fees across select Emirates comes amongst a number of initiatives to ease the financial stress amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

It is not know if parking is free Umm Al Qwainn and Ras Al Khaimah and Fujirah.
