GCC’s First Smart Vehicle Testing Center Opens In RAK — Fully Automated Testing In 6 Minutes
Ras Al Khaimah has marked a major milestone in vehicle inspection services with the launch of the GCC’s first fully automated smart vehicle testing centre. Developed in partnership between Al Ghurair Motors and the General Resources Authority (GRA), the cutting-edge facility in Al Qussaidat promises a seamless and efficient vehicle testing experience.
Automated Vehicle Testing: Test & Go
The newly introduced ‘Test & Go’ concept is set to transform traditional testing methods by allowing drivers to independently test their vehicles using smart machines. The self-testing process significantly reduces inspection time from the standard 12 minutes to just six, enhancing convenience and efficiency for motorists.
The centre employs advanced automated systems for undercarriage and tyre inspections, eliminating the need for human intervention while maintaining precision and accuracy. With strong backing from the GRA and Ras Al Khaimah Police, the centre is aligned with UAE’s stringent environmental and safety regulations.
High-Tech Facility
Spanning 1,400 sqm, the centre boasts four dedicated testing lanes capable of handling 500 to 600 vehicle tests daily. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the facility offers integrated tablets for process management, automated entry systems, and VIP services for added customer convenience.
Oscar Rivoli, CEO of Al Ghurair Motors, highlighted the significance of this milestone: “The Al Ghurair Vehicle Testing Centre represents a bold step forward in vehicle testing innovation, reflecting our commitment to raising industry standards in the UAE and beyond. We are proud to partner with the General Resources Authority in Ras Al Khaimah, to introduce an innovative facility that not only ensures the safety and compliance of vehicles but also embodies the future of sustainable and smart vehicle testing.”
Incorporating Global Best Practices
This initiative supports the UAE’s broader vision for sustainability and smart infrastructure, reinforcing RAK’s commitment to modernising vehicle inspection services. The centre’s central location ensures accessibility for residents, offering comprehensive testing and registration services under one roof.

In developing the facility, authorities adopted global best practices following a study visit to VTEQ facilities in Spain. Insights from international benchmarks helped shape the smart testing model, incorporating a pioneering digital control system and fully automated inspection tracking.
With plans to expand this innovative model across the UAE, Al Ghurair Motors aims to further enhance the region’s vehicle testing landscape, setting new standards in safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
Jamal Ahmed Al Tair, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Resources Authority in Ras Al Khaimah, praised the partnership: “This initiative underscores our mission to drive innovation and sustainability in Ras Al Khaimah’s infrastructure. We are delighted to collaborate with Al Ghurair Motors in establishing a model centre that aligns with our vision of a smarter, greener future.”
