GIMS Qatar 2023: Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid & Tiggo 8 Pro Hybrid Revealed At Geneva International Motor Show Qatar

Chery has removed the wraps from two of their latest hybrid cars in the line-up: Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid and Tiggo 8 Pro Hybrid at the GIMS Qatar 2023. The Tiggo 8 Pro Hybrid is the same as the Tiggo 8 Pro e+. On the other hand, the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid has been revealed for the first time to the world at the Geneva International Motor Show 2023 in Qatar. The specs and details of the 7 Pro hybrid are yet to be announced.

Tiggo 8 Pro Hybrid

The Tiggo 8 Pro is a full-size SUV that features Chery’s plug-in-hybrid powertrain that uses a combination of a petrol engine and a hybrid powertrain. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine works alongside a PMS electric motor paired to a 19.27kWh battery pack. The entire powertrain is mated to an eCVT gearbox for seamless shifts.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain produces a maximum of 320hp and 510Nm and features a pure electric driving range of 75km. The SUV features nine drive modes giving a wide range of choices to the driver.

The exterior design remains the same as the Tiggo 8 Pro Max except for the plug-in hybrid charging port present on the left-side front fender. On the inside, two 12.3-inch screens take centre stage for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system. There is another screen on the centre console for the climate control system.

Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid

The Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid borrows its design and features from its ICE sibling, the 7 Pro Max. The hybrid continues to be a 5-seater mid-size SUV with all the tech carried from the ICE SUV. What will not be carried on the hybrid SUV is the powertrain under the bonnet. At the moment, the brand has not revealed the details about the hybrid powertrain.

As Chery currently has only the Kunpeng e+ PHEV powertrain, that powers the Tiggo 8 Pro Hybrid, we expect the same powertrain to be used in the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid. However, it could be in a lower state of tune.

Chery is all set to launch a couple of hybrid-electric vehicles in the Middle Eastern regions to expand its vehicle portfolio. Also, these new models will offer sustainable mobility options entering a new segment in the region.
