Jaguar F-Type SVR confirmed

Special Vehicles Operation or SVR, the performance division of Jaguar Land Rover. Most notably known for the epic Range Rover Sport Supercharged SVR, which put in a stunning lap time of 8 minutes and 14 seconds around the Nurburgring in Germany. Many around the world were astounded that a two-tonne beast could achieve such a time. Now that the auto manufacturer has one incredible machine under its belt, it’s time to move on to a lighter car.

And what better vehicle in their fleet to use than the Jaguar F-Type. SVR are attaching all the right bits and pieces for ultimate speed and looks. New low-slung front splitter with larger air intakes on either side, cuts in the hood for cooling, carefully positioned rear spoiler and n each corner, there are new 20-inch rims covered in performance rubber to complete the look. SVR badges will adorn the front grille and rear tailgate.

There’s more than that, optional carbon-ceramic brakes, adaptive sports suspension, an electronic differential and unique interior trimmings. Features on other F-type’s will no doubt transition across such as navigation, bluetooth options and other creature comforts.

Jaguar F-Type SVR UAELeaked information pegs the Jaguar F-Type SVR pumping out 25 more horsepower than R models. 567 horsepower to be exact with 575 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h in a rather quick 3.7 seconds and cruising to a top speed of 320 km/h. All that power is channeled through an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. Let’s see how it stacks up against its rivals.

Vehicle Jaguar F-Type SVR  Porsche 911 Turbo S  Chevrolet Corvette
 Engine  5.0 litre/Supercharged V8  3.8 litre/Flat 6  6.2 litre/V8
 Top Speed  320 km/h  315 km/h  291 km/h
 Horsepower  567 hp  520 hp  460 hp
 Torque  575 Nm  660 Nm  624 Seconds
 0-100 time  3.7 Seconds  3.2 Seconds  3.7 Seconds

Good news for convertible lovers, Jaguar F-Type’s will come as a drop top too. With the same aero package, it may be slightly slower than coupe style versions as weight is added to support the lack of roof. We don’t see that as an issue as you can soak in all the sights of the surroundings and sounds of that powerful engine.

Jaguar Land Rover kept this quiet for some time, rumours did circulate that a “sports car SVR” is coming. But just how did the public get a hold of it so early? Before the British manufactuer could reveal it themselves, Someone in Germany or another German speaking country found a brochue for the F-Type SVR and from there it was subsequntailly leaked online for all to see. Since it’s leak, Jaguar have confirmed its existince and that it will be on show in Geneva in March.

They’ve even published a trailer for all to see, now that most of the information has leaked out

After watching that, we can’t wait until Geneva to see this beauty in it’s full glory. Bear in mind there are quite a few factors we still don’t know about this SVR.

No solid release date is known. As its listed as a 2017 model, expect to get your hands on one later this year or early 2017.
