A recent news report shows thousands of luxury and sports cars from Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Ferrari, Range Rover and Aston Martin have been abandoned by the rich residing in Dubai.

Another report portrays the wealthy Saudis, Qataris, Emiratis and Kuwaitis visiting the capital of the United Kingdom to escape from the heat of the GCC.

In a country like UAE, the rich citizens, mostly the sheikhs, are quickly able to update their already filled garage with the latest supercars in the automotive market, while the middle-class people satisfy their automotive interests by visiting places like Emirates National Auto Museum, Ferrari World and Yas Marina.

The nickname Rainbow Sheikh is given to Sheikh Hamad because of his collection of Mercedes S Class all in 7 different colours.

One of his classic cars includes a Ford Model T, which has been restored to mint condition. He also owns the world’s largest Dodge Power Wagon which weighs around 50 tonnes and is the largest vehicle in his museum. Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan

Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed, who also happens to be a member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi, is also a car enthusiast. He became interested in cars due to his father, the late Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan. The SBH royal auto gallery in his private compound in Abu Dhabi is known to house 37 luxurious cars, some of them made according to the Sheikh’s personal specifications.

The gallery is home to some of the rarest sports cars around including the Aston Martin One-77, the Bugatti EB110, the Ferrari SA Aperta, the Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss, the Lamborghini Reventon, the Maserati MC12 and a lot more. Sheikh Mohammad takes a deep interest in supercars and has more than 100 cars in his collection. These include all the well-known luxury brands such as BMW, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari and also some old vintage cars.

His most famous car is the custom made Mercedes Benz G55 AMG, which was built specifically for his convoy. It is equipped with a 5.5-litre V8 engine which generates 620 Horsepower. The exterior features a 22-inch polished alloy wheels, 4 Xenon headlamps and 8 fog lamps. Sheikh Mohammed was also one of the first owners of the limited edition Range Rover.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum

Even the son of the King, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum – the crown prince of Dubai – has some of the world’s rarest and expensive hypercars in his collection which include Ferrari LaFerrari, Lamborghini Veneno, McLaren P1, Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari F12 and Aston Martin One-77.

Mohammed Bin Sulayem

Born in 1961, Mohommad Ahmed Bin Sulayem, also known as “Mohammed ben Sulayem” is a successful rally racer from the UAE. Having more than thirty years of experience in rally racing, he has won 14 FIA Middle East Rally Championships. Besides being an excellent rally driver, Mohammed Ben Sulayem is also known to own hundreds of luxury cars and has a keen interest in modifying luxury and sports vehicles with improved and more powerful powertrains.

According to one source, he owns more than 250 luxury and sports cars, some of which include Ferrari Enzo, Ferrari F50, Ferrari F40, Ford GT, Porsche GT1, Porsche 959, Porsche Carrerra GT, Pagani Zonda, Jaguar 220, Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing 1956, Mercedes SLK 55 AMG and Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR. The Mercedes SLK 55 AMG owned by Mohammed ben Sulayem is no regular car, it is fully upgraded and carries a modified SLR engine which generates 740 horsepower and 1,200 Nm of torque.
