Massive Change In Toyota & Lexus Top-Tier Leadership In The UAE & Globally: New Global CEO & UAE MD Appointed

Al-Futtaim Automotive has now appointed Jacques Brent as the new Managing Director for the Toyota and Lexus brands in the UAE. This comes just a couple of days after Toyota announced a paradigm shift in its global leadership with the appointment of a new CEO for the Japanese auto giant.

Toyota is one of the most recognised brands across the globe. Toyota’s cars have always been a symbol of bulletproof reliability and the brand makes cars that appeal to a wide audience. Toyota’s luxury division Lexus too has an inherent reputation for reliability and relative affordability while offering luxury that is at par or often surpasses the well-known German brands.

As a result of what it offers to buyers across the world, Toyota is one of the largest automotive brands in the world. It was founded in 1937 by Kiichiro Toyoda. In 2009, his grandson Akio Toyoda took on the role of CEO and led the brand through some difficult times. Now, after 13 years at the helm, Akio Toyoda is all set to pass on the baton to Koji Sato, the head of Lexus’ brand operations.

Koji Sato will become the CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation in April 2023 while Akio Toyoda will go on to take up the position of Chairman. Another sea change in leadership at the Japanese brand is also taking place closer to home.

Toyota and Lexus are both household names in the UAE automotive market. Several cars produced by both Toyota and Lexus are icons in their own right. Al-Futtaim Automotive, the exclusive distributor of Toyota and Lexus cars in the UAE has now appointed Jacques Brent, with nearly 30 years of automotive experience, as the Managing Director of the two Japanese brands in the region.

Jacques Brent was quoted as saying, “I am extremely excited to join Al-Futtaim Automotive, the UAE’s automotive market leader, in a time of global challenges and huge opportunity. As the industry moves into an era of unprecedented disruption, being able to work with Al-Futtaim Automotive to develop the highly regarded Toyota and Lexus brands, which are household names in the UAE, through this transition will be a highly rewarding experience.”

Toyota and Lexus continue to command a premium both in the new and used car segments. Here are over 2,000 Used Toyota Cars in the UAE while the number of New Toyota Cars In The UAE is much higher.
