Toyota Land Cruiser Se Electric Concept Unveiled: Ready For An Electric LC?

Growing demand for eco-friendly green vehicles has become the need of the hour. Like most manufacturers, Toyota is also set to give its iconic SUV the Land Cruiser, an electric update to make it live on for future generations. Called the Toyota Land Cruiser Se, Toyota showcased the concept SUV at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.

The Land Cruiser Se is the brand’s first BEV (Born Electric Vehicle) and has revealed very few details about the EV concept recently. From the brand’s statement, the new LC electric SUV is expected to be more of an urban runabout as compared to an off-roader for the beaten path.

Also, Toyota announced that the Land Cruiser Se will be a practical SUV offering three-row seating. The electric SUV will have a monocoque body construction to offer highly responsive handling and confidence in tackling rough terrain. Toyota has also revealed the expected dimensions of the upcoming electric Land Cruiser Se.

Length5,150mm
Width1,990mm
Height1,705mm
Wheelbase3,050mm
Seating Capacity7

In comparison, the electric Land Cruiser has a 200mm longer wheelbase, giving it a roomier cabin. However, the tall stance of the SUV is reduced in the electric SUV by around 190mm, which could also mean lesser ground clearance. As a result, the theatre-like seating on the third row of the electric SUV might have more legroom, but the headroom might be compromised.

In terms of design, upfront the concept SUV features a closed grille and an LED lightbar connecting headlamps at either end. The Trapezoidal foglamps on the bumper look cool and we hope it makes it to the production model.

On the side, octagonal flared wheel arches complement its boxy silhouette. The strong D-pillar and the sloping roofline add a sporty character to the SUV. The deep-dish wheels also look menacing. The rear also features an LED lightbar that connects the taillamps at either side giving the overall design a sense of width. The sharply-raked rear windscreen features a funky integrated spoiler.

Toyota will eventually reveal more details of the highly anticipated Land Cruiser electric. However, we expect the LC Se to feature dual motors for AWD capabilities and a large battery pack to give a range of over 600km.
