Summary

This Lexus GS300 remains a standout choice for those seeking Japanese reliability in an executive package, especially as it approaches its 20-year milestone. Its silver exterior is not only a top-performing resale color in the GCC but also effectively hides desert dust and resists the intense local heat. The Navigation trim adds high-value tech that keeps the cabin feeling modern, while the naturally aspirated V6 is celebrated for its longevity and smooth power delivery. For a buyer in the Emirates or wider region, this model represents one of the most cost-effective ways to enter the luxury sedan segment without the maintenance headaches typically associated with European rivals of this age.

This Car vs Other 2006 GS300s

With 260,000 km on the clock, this GS300 has averaged roughly 13,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC typical average of 20,000–25,000 km. While it is an American spec vehicle, the mechanical components are largely shared with GCC models, ensuring easy parts availability at any local Lexus specialist. The silver finish is a major advantage for local resale, consistently ranking as one of the most sought-after colors in the UAE used market.

NAVIGATION vs Lower Trims

The Navigation trim was the range-topper for the 3.0L model, introducing the 7-inch multi-information touchscreen that serves as the command center for the cabin. It replaces the standard audio setup with a premium 10-speaker system and adds essential features like a rear-view camera, which is a significant safety and convenience upgrade for tight city parking. You also benefit from integrated Bluetooth technology and upgraded wood-and-leather interior accents not found on the base configurations.

GS300 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class of the same era, the Lexus leads in heat management and air conditioning reliability, a critical factor for GCC summers. While German competitors often require specialized diagnostics and premium parts, the GS300 uses a robust powertrain shared with other Toyota-family vehicles, making it far cheaper to maintain over time. Its 71-litre fuel tank also provides superior range for long highway runs between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Running Costs & Resale

Lexus enjoys legendary status in the GCC for value retention, with the GS300 typically depreciating at a much slower rate (8–10% annually) than its European counterparts. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 9.8L/100km, performing efficiently on the high-speed motorways that define regional travel. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and with the most extensive authorized service network in the region, maintenance is both predictable and affordable.

Performance & Capability

The refined 3.0L V6 produces 245 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 238 km/h. This provides ample confidence when overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11 or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The 6-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth, linear power delivery, ensuring that long-distance commutes across the Emirates are handled with minimal vibration and noise.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to be a sanctuary from the 45°C+ summer heat, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents to keep all five passengers comfortable. Acoustic glass and extensive insulation result in a remarkably quiet interior, even at high cruising speeds. The Navigation trim's leather-trimmed seats and power-adjustable steering column allow for a perfectly tailored driving position for long road trips.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this trim is comprehensive for its era, featuring 10 airbags including dual-stage front, seat-mounted side, and curtain airbags. It also includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC), which are essential for maintaining composure on sand-drifted roads. The addition of the rear-view camera in this trim provides an extra layer of security during low-speed maneuvers in busy urban environments.

The bottom line

This is the ideal opportunity for a budget-conscious buyer looking for a prestigious 20-year-old executive sedan that still feels modern and remains mechanically dependable in the harsh GCC climate.
