• 560 litres boot space

Summary

This 20-year-old Mercedes-Benz S350 LWB remains a definitive statement in executive travel, offering the extended wheelbase that GCC buyers prize for its superior rear-cabin legroom. Despite its age, the W221 generation’s design remains contemporary, and this specific 6-cylinder model avoids the higher maintenance complexity of the V8 and V12 variants. Silver and grey tones, common in this 'Other' color category, offer high heat reflection and excellent resale stability in the regional market. While the mileage reflects a life spent on the UAE's expansive highways, the S-Class is engineered for exactly this kind of long-distance cruising. For the buyer seeking flagship presence and Mercedes-Benz refinement without the new-car price tag, this GCC-spec sedan is a logically equipped entry point into luxury.

This Car vs Other 2006 S350s

At 225,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is consistent with the typical GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km for a car that is 20 years old. While many S-Class examples of this era suffer from neglected air suspension, a GCC-spec car used primarily for highway commuting between Emirates often presents better mechanical longevity than those used in stop-start city traffic. The 'Other' exterior color is likely a neutral metallic, which is a preferred choice in the UAE for maintaining a clean appearance against desert dust and retaining value at resale.

LWB vs Lower Trims

The LWB (Long Wheelbase) trim is the most sought-after configuration in the Middle East, providing significantly more rear knee room compared to the standard wheelbase model. This trim typically includes the COMAND infotainment system with an 8-inch display and the 7G-Tronic automatic transmission, which was a major upgrade for this generation. It also benefits from upgraded leather upholstery and wood trim accents that elevate the cabin beyond the entry-level specifications.

S350 vs Segment Rivals

The S350 LWB competes directly with the BMW 7 Series and the Audi A8, leading the segment in overall ride comfort due to its sophisticated Airmatic suspension. While the BMW 730i offers a more driver-focused experience, the S-Class provides a more isolated and serene cabin environment that is better suited for long drives across the GCC. Its 560-litre boot capacity also outperforms several key rivals, making it more practical for airport runs or family trips.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.5L V6 averages approximately 10.1 L/100km on the highway, though this can rise in the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh. Mercedes-Benz maintains one of the most robust authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring that parts for the W221 generation remain widely available and competitively priced. As a GCC-spec luxury sedan, it retains a value premium over imported American or European models, which often face challenges with local cooling requirements and service history verification.

Performance & Capability

The S350 delivers a smooth 272 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds, which is more than adequate for confident highway overtaking in fast-moving UAE traffic. The 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission is tuned for seamless shifts, emphasizing comfort over aggressive acceleration. It is a dedicated road cruiser, providing a stable and quiet ride even at sustained highway speeds, making it ideal for cross-border travel between GCC nations.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around the GCC ownership experience, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system that is well-regarded for handling 45-degree summer heat. As an LWB model, the rear seats offer genuine executive-level space, and the acoustic glass helps insulate passengers from both heat and road noise. The interior features premium leather and walnut wood trim, maintaining a high-quality feel that distinguishes the S-Class from smaller executive sedans.

Safety

This S350 comes standard with the pioneering Pre-Safe system, which detects potential collisions and prepares the cabin by tensioning seatbelts and closing windows. It is equipped with a comprehensive array of airbags, including side curtain protection, along with ABS and electronic stability control to maintain traction on sand-dusted road surfaces. The adaptive braking system is particularly helpful during sudden stops on high-speed desert highways.

The bottom line

This S350 LWB is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants the prestige and rear-seat comfort of a flagship Mercedes-Benz at an accessible price point. It represents a balanced opportunity where GCC-spec reliability meets the most desirable wheelbase configuration for the regional market.
