Rolls Royce Phantom COUPE DROPHEAD

Highlights

• Hand-built 6.7-litre V12 engine
• Top speed of 240 km/h
• 0–100 km/h in 5.9 seconds

Summary

This GCC-spec Phantom Drophead Coupe represents a rare opportunity to own a hand-built icon with mileage that is exceptionally low for a 16-year-old vehicle in the UAE. Finished in a striking red, a color that commands attention and holds a unique niche in the regional luxury market, this convertible offers an open-air experience that standard coupes cannot match. The Drophead trim is the most prestigious body style of the Phantom VII generation, featuring the signature teak wood decking and rear-hinged coach doors. For the GCC buyer, the massive V12 provides the effortless torque required for smooth highway cruising between Emirates while the over-engineered cooling system manages the summer heat with ease. This is a definitive statement piece that blends maritime-inspired design with the ultimate in automotive refinement.

This Car vs Other 2010 Phantoms

With 125,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has averaged approximately 7,800 km per year, which is significantly below the typical GCC annual average of 20,000 km. While many Phantoms of this era have been used as daily executive transport, this mileage suggests a life of occasional, cared-for use. The red exterior is a bold choice in a market dominated by white and black, offering a distinct advantage for collectors looking for a standout specimen.

COUPE DROPHEAD vs Lower Trims

The Drophead Coupe sits at the top of the Phantom hierarchy, adding a five-layer tailored soft top and the iconic marine-grade teak wood rear decking not found on the fixed-roof Coupe. It features a brushed steel hood and A-pillar finish as standard, alongside the unique rear-hinged 'coach' doors that facilitate a more graceful entry and exit. These specific visual cues are highly prized by GCC collectors and contribute to the model's superior value retention over the standard sedan.

Phantom vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Bentley Continental GTC or the Aston Martin DBS Volante, the Phantom offers a vastly more substantial presence and a 'waftability' that performance-focused grand tourers cannot replicate. Its 80-litre fuel tank supports long-distance drives across the GCC without frequent stops, and its cabin isolation remains the gold standard for convertibles. Unlike its smaller rivals, the Phantom provides genuine lounge-like legroom for all four occupants.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption reflects the massive 6.7L V12, averaging around 15.8L/100km combined, with city driving in stop-start traffic reaching higher figures. The GCC-spec status ensures full compatibility with local high-octane fuel grades and access to the extensive Rolls-Royce authorized service network in cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh. While high-end luxury cars face steep initial depreciation, the Drophead Coupe has transitioned into a modern classic status in the UAE, typically seeing a much flatter depreciation curve than standard luxury sedans.

Performance & Capability

The 453 hp V12 engine is designed for effortless power rather than raw aggression, delivering 720 Nm of torque that allows this 2.6-tonne vehicle to reach 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. The self-leveling air suspension is specifically tuned to filter out road imperfections, making it ideal for the long, flat highways of the region. Despite its size, the rear-wheel-drive setup and sophisticated chassis management provide a stable and authoritative driving experience at its governed top speed of 240 km/h.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of natural materials, featuring book-matched wood veneers and hand-stitched leather that stays comfortable even in intense heat. The air conditioning system is widely regarded as one of the most powerful ever fitted to a car, featuring multi-zone climate control with dedicated vents for all passengers. Practical touches for the local climate include a refrigerated glove box and thick acoustic glass that provides exceptional heat and sound insulation when the roof is raised.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite of systems including stability control specifically calibrated for the vehicle's weight, ensuring composure on both paved roads and sand-dusted surfaces. The 2010 model features multiple airbags and reinforced A-pillars designed for rollover protection in the convertible format. Parking sensors and a specialized camera system assist in navigating the vehicle's substantial dimensions in tighter urban environments.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC collector or enthusiast seeking the most prestigious convertible in the world with a mileage profile that promises many more years of refined open-top motoring.
