Infiniti FX35 EXCELLENCE Japanese Specification

Highlights

• 5-Star NCAP safety rating
• Lowest depreciation in class

Summary

This 2011 Infiniti FX35 EXCELLENCE is a rare find in the GCC market, combining exceptionally low mileage with one of the most iconic silhouettes in the luxury SUV segment. Having covered significantly less distance than the regional average for its age, this vehicle presents an opportunity to own a modern classic that still feels fresh and mechanically tight. The black exterior is the most sought-after resale color in the UAE and wider GCC, ensuring that this car retains its value and aesthetic appeal for years to come. While many rivals from this era feel dated, the Infiniti's ahead-of-its-time design and high-specification interior continue to compete with much newer models. For a buyer in the Gulf, the combination of the bulletproof 3.5L V6 engine and the Japanese build quality offers a level of reliability that European competitors of the same vintage simply cannot match. This specific EXCELLENCE trim ensures you are getting a fully-loaded cabin experience that was designed to handle the heat and long-distance demands of regional driving.

This Car vs Other 2011 FX35s

When comparing this vehicle to other 2011 FX35s currently available in the GCC, the most striking differentiator is the odometer. While the average annual mileage in the region typically sits between 20,000 km and 25,000 km, this car has averaged only a fraction of that, making it a statistical outlier in the best way possible. Most examples from this model year have surpassed the 200,000 km mark, whereas this unit remains in a bracket usually reserved for cars half its age. The black exterior finish is a massive advantage in the local market, as it remains a top-tier choice for resale value and lends the car a timeless, executive presence on the road. Choosing a Japanese-spec model with such low mileage often means the interior leather and plastics have been better preserved from the intense UV exposure common in high-use regional cars. This is effectively a time-capsule example of one of the best-handling SUVs ever produced.

EXCELLENCE vs Lower Trims

The EXCELLENCE trim was the flagship offering for the 3.5L range, providing several features that GCC buyers find essential for comfort and prestige. Unlike the base trims, this version includes the acclaimed Bose 11-speaker Premium Audio system, which delivers a concert-like experience that masks road noise during high-speed highway cruising. You also benefit from the Around View Monitor, a 360-degree camera system that was pioneering at the time and remains incredibly useful for navigating tight parking spots in Dubai or Riyadh. The climate control system in this trim is also upgraded, featuring the Advanced Climate Control System (ACCS) with Plasmacluster air purifiers, which is a significant benefit during the dusty summer months in the Gulf. Additionally, the EXCELLENCE trim features higher-grade leather upholstery and maple wood accents that elevate the cabin atmosphere far above the standard cloth or entry-level leather found in lower tiers.

FX35 vs Segment Rivals

The Infiniti FX35 was designed to compete with the BMW X5 and the Porsche Cayenne, and it carves out its own niche by offering superior reliability and lower maintenance costs. In the GCC, where the heat can be punishing on European cooling systems and electronics, the FX35's Japanese engineering provides a significant peace-of-mind advantage. It offers a more car-like, sporty driving position than the Lexus RX, making it the preferred choice for those who enjoy the act of driving rather than just commuting. Its 90-litre fuel tank is one of the largest in its class, allowing for extended range on long cross-country trips between the UAE and neighboring countries without frequent fuel stops. Furthermore, the Infiniti's All Wheel Drive system is more rear-biased than many of its rivals, giving it a sporty feel that mimics a performance sedan while maintaining the ground clearance needed for the occasional gravel path or sandy track.

Running Costs & Resale

Running an FX35 in the GCC is surprisingly affordable compared to its German counterparts. The 3.5L VQ-series engine is world-renowned for its durability and is a staple in the Nissan/Infiniti lineup, meaning parts are readily available at competitive prices across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. You can expect a real-world fuel consumption of roughly 12.5 L/100km on the highway and about 15.5 L/100km in heavy city traffic, which is standard for a V6 SUV of this performance bracket. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and because the engine architecture is so well-known, even independent specialist garages can maintain it easily if you choose to move away from the authorized dealer network. Historically, the FX35 has one of the slowest depreciation curves in the luxury SUV segment in the Middle East, with well-maintained, low-mileage examples like this one often seeing a price floor that protects the owner's investment.

Performance & Capability

Under the hood is the legendary VQ35HR engine, producing 299 hp and 360 Nm of torque, which provides a satisfyingly linear power delivery perfect for overtaking on the E11 or E311 highways. The 0-100 km/h sprint is achieved in just under 7 seconds, a figure that was highly competitive for its era and still feels brisk today. This power is managed by a smooth 7-speed automatic transmission that features Downshift Rev Matching, providing a sporty exhaust note that FX fans adore. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system constantly monitors road conditions, sending up to 50% of power to the front wheels when slip is detected, or 100% to the rear for maximum efficiency and agility on dry pavement. With a ground clearance of 188 mm, it easily handles high curbs and uneven terrain, though its true strength lies in its high-speed stability and lack of body roll during cornering.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin of the FX35 is a masterclass in driver-centric design, featuring 'quilted' leather seats that are both heated and ventilated—a must-have feature for surviving a July afternoon in the desert. The 5-seat layout provides ample headroom for all passengers, while the front seats offer 10-way power adjustment to ensure comfort on long drives across the Emirates. Cabin insulation is remarkably good, utilizing thick glass and sound-dampening materials to keep the hum of the city and the whistle of the desert wind at bay. The dual-zone automatic climate control is exceptionally powerful, capable of dropping the cabin temperature rapidly even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight. For families, the ISOFIX tethers and rear cooling vents ensure that children are both safe and comfortable during the peak of summer.

Safety

Safety was a primary focus for Infiniti, and the FX35 comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of protective technologies. It features six airbags as standard, including dual-stage front bags and roof-mounted curtain bags for side-impact protection. The Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist systems are particularly valuable in the GCC, where sudden stops in high-speed traffic are a daily occurrence. You also get Traction Control and Vehicle Dynamic Control, which are essential for maintaining stability on sandy roads or during the rare but heavy regional rainstorms. The adaptive front lighting system swivels the HID bi-xenon headlights into turns, providing much better visibility on unlit desert roads at night. These features collectively earned the vehicle top safety marks, ensuring that it remains a responsible choice for family transport.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, top-trim Japanese-spec SUV that offers the perfect balance of performance and reliability. It is the ideal choice for a professional or a small family looking for a luxury vehicle that looks expensive but has the manageable running costs of a Japanese brand.
