Summary

This Range Rover Sport SC Autobiography offers a compelling mix of raw performance and high-tier luxury that remains highly desirable in the GCC market. With its supercharged V8 producing 510 hp, it provides the effortless highway overtaking and power necessary for long-distance travel between emirates. The Autobiography trim is the pinnacle of the 2012 line-up, ensuring the cabin feels significantly more premium than the standard HSE models. While the mileage reflects steady use over its 14 years, the GCC-specification and grey exterior ensure it retains better resale appeal than imported equivalents. For the local buyer, this represents a chance to own a fully-specced flagship SUV that balances daily city presence with genuine off-road heritage.

This Car vs Other 2012 Range Rover Sports

At 190,000 km, this vehicle has averaged approximately 13,500 km per year, which is notably lower than the GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km. The grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice in the UAE and Saudi markets, supporting better value retention than more niche colors. As a GCC-spec model, it features the cooling and filtration systems specifically designed for the region's extreme heat.

SC AUTOBIOGRAPHY vs Lower Trims

The SC Autobiography adds significant luxury over the Supercharged and HSE trims, most notably the 825W 17-speaker Harman Kardon Logic 7 audio system and semi-aniline leather upholstery. It also features a unique exterior design pack with specialized grilles and exhaust finishers that provide a more assertive road presence. Inside, you benefit from a leather-wrapped dashboard and extended wood veneers that aren't found on the base models.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the BMW X5 M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo of the same era, the Range Rover Sport leads in sheer off-road versatility thanks to its dual-range transfer case and adjustable air suspension. While German rivals focus strictly on tarmac, this model offers a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity and superior visibility for navigating both urban traffic and desert terrain. The 88-litre fuel tank also provides a longer cruising range for cross-border GCC road trips.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.0L Supercharged V8 averages around 15.9 L/100km, though this increases in heavy stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km, but many GCC owners opt for 8,000 km oil changes to combat the effects of extreme summer temperatures. As a flagship Autobiography trim, it occupies a specific niche in the used market where well-maintained examples depreciate at a slower rate than high-volume base trims.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this SUV is the 510 hp supercharged V8, capable of a 225 km/h top speed and brisk acceleration that belies its size. The Terrain Response system allows the driver to optimize the All-Wheel Drive system for grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts, sand, and rock crawl. Its 625 Nm of torque makes it an exceptional choice for towing or climbing steep dunes during weekend escapes.

Comfort & Cabin

The Autobiography cabin is designed for five passengers, featuring heated and ventilated front seats that are essential for the GCC summer. Dual-zone climate control with powerful rear vents ensures all occupants stay cool, even when exterior temperatures exceed 45°C. Acoustic glass and thick insulation provide a quiet sanctuary on the highway, separating the cabin from road and wind noise at high speeds.

Safety

Standard safety features include six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), and Roll Stability Control (RSC), which are vital for a high-center-of-gravity SUV. The high-performance 6-piston Brembo front brakes provide excellent stopping power, while front and rear parking sensors coupled with a rearview camera assist in tight city parking. The permanent all-wheel-drive system ensures maximum traction on both rain-slicked tarmac and loose desert sand.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity for a GCC buyer to secure a high-performance Autobiography flagship with lower-than-average mileage for its age. It is the ideal choice for an enthusiast who demands the peak of Land Rover luxury without the depreciation of a newer model.
