Summary

This GCC-spec SUV offers a practical entry point into full-sized family transport, particularly for those who need a genuine eight-seat capacity. Finished in a high-resale white, it has been maintained for local highway use and remains a popular choice for larger families across the region. The 3.6L V6 provides reliable power for highway cruising between cities, while the LS trim focuses on durability and ease of maintenance. With its extensive parts availability and strong service support in the UAE, this is a sensible workhorse for daily school runs and weekend road trips.

This Car vs Other 2014 Traverses

At 150,000 km, this vehicle sits at a typical mileage for a decade-old SUV in the GCC, where annual averages often reach 20,000 km due to frequent inter-emirate travel. The white exterior is the most preferred color for the region, offering superior heat reflection and the strongest resale potential in the used market. It has aged well mechanically, benefiting from the robust 3.6L powertrain designed for high-ambient temperatures.

LS vs Lower Trims

The LS serves as the foundation for the model, focusing on utility and hard-wearing materials that withstand the GCC’s harsh summer heat. While higher trims like the LT add power seats and alloy wheels, the LS maintains the same 281-hp V6 engine, ensuring you don't sacrifice performance for value. It is the only configuration that consistently offers the full eight-passenger bench layout, making it the most efficient choice for logistical family needs.

Traverse vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Ford Explorer or Honda Pilot, the Traverse stands out with its superior cargo volume behind the third row, which is essential for grocery runs when all eight seats are occupied. Its long wheelbase provides a more stable ride on desert highways compared to shorter crossovers. The 83-litre fuel tank ensures fewer stops during long-distance drives across the UAE and Oman.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages between 12.4 and 13.0 L/100km, which is competitive for a heavy eight-seater in GCC stop-start traffic. As a long-standing American model in the region, parts are readily available at competitive prices through major distributors like Al Ghandi and Bin Hamoodah. While depreciation for older American SUVs is steeper than Japanese rivals, the LS trim retains its value better due to its simplicity and high demand for affordable high-capacity seating.

Performance & Capability

The 3.6L V6 engine delivers a smooth 281 hp, providing ample torque for overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. With a ground clearance of approximately 183 mm, it easily handles sand-blown roads and gravel tracks for weekend outings. The six-speed automatic transmission is geared for efficiency, ensuring the engine remains relaxed during high-speed cruising in extreme temperatures.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is defined by its massive interior space, featuring dedicated rear A/C vents and independent climate controls that are vital for passenger comfort during the summer months. The seating for eight is genuinely usable, with enough legroom for adults in the third row. Durable cloth upholstery is chosen for the LS trim to remain cooler to the touch than leather when the vehicle is parked in direct sunlight.

Safety

Standard safety features include a comprehensive airbag system, electronic stability control, and traction control optimized for varying road surfaces. It carries a 5-star NHTSA overall safety rating, providing peace of mind for family transport. Standard ABS and tire pressure monitoring are particularly useful for maintaining safety during long-distance highway travel at high speeds.

The bottom line

This Traverse is the ideal choice for a large family seeking maximum seating capacity and GCC-proven reliability without a premium price tag. It represents a solid opportunity to own a well-maintained, high-utility SUV that is fully supported by the region's largest service networks.
