Summary

This Range Rover HSE balances luxury and capability in a way that remains highly sought after in the GCC market. With its supercharged V6 engine, it offers a more efficient alternative to the V8 models while maintaining the presence and refinement expected from the flagship Land Rover. The Maroon exterior is a distinctive choice that stands out from the common white and silver fleet, while the GCC-spec ensures the cooling systems are built to handle peak summer heat. At 12 years old, this car represents a mature entry point into the Range Rover family for those who prioritize the iconic aluminum-bodied L405 design and legendary off-road hardware.

This Car vs Other 2014 Range Rovers

With 202,000 km, this vehicle sits slightly above the average annual mileage for a GCC luxury SUV, which typically covers 20,000 km per year. The Maroon paintwork offers a unique character compared to the standard market colors, and as a GCC-spec model, it retains better value and serviceability in the UAE than imported counterparts. For a car of this age, the aluminum unibody construction is a significant advantage, as it avoids the weight and corrosion issues that affected older generations.

HSE vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim sits above the standard Vogue, adding essential luxury features that GCC buyers value, such as larger 20-inch alloy wheels and upgraded Oxford leather upholstery. It also standardizes the sliding panoramic roof and provides better seat adjustments with memory functions. These additions make the HSE a significantly more comfortable environment for long cross-emirate drives compared to the entry-level SE trims.

Range Rover vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover leads the luxury SUV segment with a massive 105-litre fuel tank, providing superior highway range for long-distance travel between Riyadh, Dubai, or Muscat. Unlike road-biased rivals like the BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne, the Range Rover features a dedicated low-range transfer case and adjustable air suspension. This hardware allows for genuine desert capability and a 900 mm wading depth that remains unmatched by most European competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L supercharged V6 averages approximately 11.5L/100km, offering a noticeable saving over the V8 Supercharged variant in stop-start city traffic. Maintenance across the GCC is supported by an extensive network of authorized service centers like Al Tayer in the UAE and Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors in Saudi Arabia. While European luxury SUVs typically depreciate by 12-18% annually in the local market, the GCC-spec Range Rover holds its value well among enthusiasts due to its iconic status and mechanical durability.

Performance & Capability

The 340 hp supercharged V6 provides effortless highway overtaking and smooth power delivery across the rev range. The Terrain Response 2 system automatically adapts the vehicle’s traction and suspension settings for sand, gravel, or tarmac, making it a versatile tool for weekend escapes to the Liwa desert. With a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity, it is also perfectly suited for transporting boats or trailers across the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for ultimate refinement, featuring quad-zone climate control and rear cooling vents that are essential for the GCC climate. Acoustic laminated glass ensures the interior remains a quiet sanctuary even at high cruising speeds on the E11 highway. The elevated 'Command Driving Position' provides excellent visibility, while the premium Meridian audio system delivers an immersive sound experience for all passengers.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with a suite of eight airbags and advanced electronic stability control tuned for both high-speed tarmac and loose sand surfaces. Standard features on the HSE include front and rear parking sensors with a visual display, and the adaptive air suspension automatically lowers the vehicle at highway speeds to improve stability. These systems work together to provide peace of mind during long desert highway drives and busy urban commutes.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Range Rover HSE is an ideal choice for the buyer seeking the prestige and off-road prowess of the L405 generation at a more accessible price point. It offers the perfect balance of premium features and supercharged V6 efficiency for the modern GCC lifestyle.
