Lexus IS250 PREMIER

Highlights

• Naturally aspirated V6 engine
• 5-star overall safety rating (NHTSA 2014)
• 66-litre fuel tank capacity

Summary

This Lexus IS250 remains a standout choice for those seeking the legendary reliability of a Japanese V6 in a sharp, modern sedan silhouette. With 155,000 km over 12 years, the mileage is remarkably low for the GCC market, where high-speed highway commuting is the norm. The white exterior is a strategic advantage, offering both the best heat reflection for the summer months and the highest resale liquidity in the region. As a Premier trim, it balances executive comfort with a driver-focused cockpit that hasn't aged a day. For a GCC buyer, this represents a reliable entry into the luxury segment with a vast support network for parts and service.

This Car vs Other 2014 IS250s

While typical 12-year-old cars in the GCC often exceed 250,000 km due to long-distance inter-emirate travel, this unit sits at a conservative 155,000 km, suggesting much lighter use. The white paintwork is the most sought-after color in the local used market, ensuring faster resale and better value retention than darker shades. Its American specification provides a well-documented equipment list, though buyers should confirm service history compatibility with local authorized centers.

PREMIER vs Lower Trims

The Premier trim significantly upgrades the cabin experience over the base models, often featuring the high-resolution Lexus Display Audio system and enhanced seat adjustments. It adds essential GCC comforts such as ventilated front seats and a backup camera, features that are frequently missing on entry-level specifications. The addition of the moonroof and upgraded 18-inch wheels provides a more premium road presence compared to the standard 17-inch versions.

IS250 vs Segment Rivals

Against rivals like the BMW 3 Series or Mercedes C-Class, the IS250 leads on long-term mechanical simplicity thanks to its naturally aspirated V6, avoiding the complex turbocharger issues often seen in European competitors. Its 66-litre fuel tank is sized for the long desert highways between Dubai and Riyadh, offering a robust cruising range. Furthermore, the Lexus air conditioning system is widely regarded in the region for its superior performance in extreme 45-degree heat.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 9.2 L/100km, which is efficient for a 6-cylinder in its class. Lexus holds the strongest value retention in the GCC used market, with depreciation rates significantly lower than German luxury brands. The extensive service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensures that genuine parts are readily available and affordable, even for American spec models, making the long-term cost of ownership highly predictable.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5L V6 produces a smooth 205 hp, delivered through a refined 6-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels for a classic sedan feel. While not a track car, it offers a top speed of 225 km/h and enough torque for confident overtaking on fast-moving highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The Drive Mode Select system allows you to toggle between ECO for the city and SPORT for a more responsive throttle when the road opens up.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the IS250 features an LFA-inspired cockpit that prioritizes the driver, paired with a significant increase in rear legroom over previous generations. The powerful Lexus climate control is designed to handle the Gulf summer, often supported by ventilated seating in this trim to keep passengers cool. Acoustic glass helps maintain a quiet, insulated environment even at highway speeds, shielding the cabin from wind noise and exterior heat.

Safety

Safety is a primary strength, with this model earning a 5-star overall rating from the NHTSA in 2014. It is equipped with a comprehensive suite of ten airbags, including driver and front passenger knee airbags, which were class-leading at the time. The Star Safety System provides integrated electronic braking and traction technologies that are essential for maintaining stability during occasional desert sandstorms or rare rain events on the highway.

The bottom line

Perfect for the young professional or family looking for a prestigious, low-mileage sedan that won't demand the high maintenance costs of a European rival.
