Summary

This silver Mercedes-Benz E300 is a compelling choice for those seeking the robust reliability of the W212 generation paired with the sharper aesthetics of the Avantgarde Sport trim. With silver being a highly resilient color in the GCC for both heat rejection and resale value, it remains a practical pick for the region's climate. The 3.0L V6 engine is widely regarded by local mechanics for its balance of performance and long-term durability compared to newer turbocharged units. For a 16-year-old vehicle, this E300 offers a sophisticated executive experience that rivals modern mid-tier sedans in comfort. Given its reputation for high-speed highway stability, it is perfectly suited for daily commutes across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2010 E300s

With 170,000 km on the odometer, this E300 sits well below the typical 320,000 to 400,000 km expected for a vehicle of this age in the highway-heavy GCC market. The silver exterior is a strategic choice for the UAE, as it hides dust better than darker shades and maintains a higher resale demand. While many 2010 models show significant wear, the Korean regional spec often indicates a vehicle that has been maintained to high inspection standards before export.

AVANTGARDE SPORT vs Lower Trims

The Avantgarde Sport trim provides a significant visual and mechanical upgrade over the Classic and Elegance levels, featuring a lowered sport suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin trades traditional wood for sleek aluminium trim and a three-spoke sport steering wheel, appealing to a more modern aesthetic. It also includes bi-xenon headlights with active cornering light and the sharper three-bar grille design that removes the standing hood ornament for a more aerodynamic look.

E300 vs Segment Rivals

The E300 leads rivals like the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6 in sheer boot capacity, offering 532 litres that easily accommodate family luggage or golf kits. Its 80-litre fuel tank is a massive advantage for long-distance driving, providing a range that outclasses most competitors in the same year. Furthermore, the W212 chassis is frequently cited for superior cabin insulation and air conditioning performance, which are critical metrics for summer driving in the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 9.1 L/100km combined, though GCC city traffic may push this closer to 13.0 L/100km. Parts availability is exceptional across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman due to the W212's popularity in both private and commercial sectors. While European luxury sedans typically depreciate by 12–18% annually in the GCC, the E300's strong reputation for mechanical longevity helps it retain value better than its rivals at the 15-year-plus mark.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L naturally aspirated V6 delivers a smooth 231 hp and 300 Nm of torque, enabling a refined 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.4 seconds. The 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission is tuned for comfort and seamless highway cruising at 140 km/h, where the car feels most at home. Despite its sportier suspension, the E300 maintains a ground clearance of approximately 160 mm, making it capable of handling standard speed bumps and urban road transitions with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for long-distance executive travel, featuring dual-zone THERMATIC climate control that is well-regarded for its ability to combat high ambient temperatures. The blue-tinted thermal insulation glass, standard on the Avantgarde, helps reduce cabin heat soak during peak UAE summer hours. Acoustic insulation is a highlight, effectively muting road and wind noise even at higher highway speeds common in the region.

Safety

Safety is anchored by the Mercedes-Benz Attention Assist driver fatigue monitoring system and the Adaptive Brake system with a useful Hold function for stop-start traffic. It comes equipped with a comprehensive airbag suite including front, side, window, and knee protection. The electronic stability program (ESP) and anti-lock brakes (ABS) are calibrated to maintain composure on both sandy road shoulders and wet asphalt during rare seasonal storms.

The bottom line

This E300 is ideal for an executive or family buyer looking for Mercedes-Benz prestige and W212 durability at an accessible price point. Its lower-than-average mileage and desirable Sport trim make it a standout opportunity in the current used market.
