Summary

This 2014 Mercedes-Benz E300 represents a refined era of the W212 facelift, combining the traditional luxury of the Elegance trim with the sharper visual presence of the AMG styling package. Powered by a dependable 3.5-litre V6 engine, it offers a smoother and more linear power delivery compared to newer turbocharged equivalents, making it a favorite for long-distance GCC highway cruising. With average mileage for its age in the local market and finished in a high-resale grey, it balances executive prestige with proven mechanical durability. This specific configuration is ideal for buyers seeking a professional commuter that maintains a composed ride while benefiting from the iconic AMG-line aesthetic enhancements.

This Car vs Other 2014 E300s

At 157,000 km, this E300 sits at a typical mileage for a well-maintained ten-year-old executive sedan in the GCC, where 20,000 km per year is the standard benchmark. While many available units are basic trims or imports, this is a genuine GCC-spec vehicle, which is a significant advantage for both cooling efficiency and future resale value in the UAE. The grey exterior remains one of the most sought-after colors in the regional used market, ensuring better value retention than more niche shades.

ELEGANCE AMG vs Lower Trims

The Elegance AMG trim is a unique middle ground; it provides the softer, comfort-oriented suspension and classic wood-trimmed interior of the Elegance line, but adds the aggressive AMG body styling, 18-inch alloy wheels, and perforated brake discs. Unlike the base SE trim, this version includes upgraded ambient lighting, premium leather seating with memory functions, and the high-performance LED Intelligent Light System. It offers a more sophisticated cabin environment than the Avantgarde trim, which typically uses aluminum or darker 'Bird's Eye' maple wood.

E300 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the BMW 5 Series or Audi A6 of the same year, the E300 leads in cabin insulation and seat comfort, designed specifically for the relaxed highway speeds common between Emirates. Its 80-litre fuel tank provides a significantly longer range than most competitors, reducing fuel stops during cross-country drives. Furthermore, the E-Class is widely regarded in the GCC for having a more robust air conditioning system that stays remarkably effective even in 45°C+ summer heat.

Running Costs & Resale

The naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 is known for its longevity in the region, with real-world fuel consumption averaging around 10.5 L/100km in city traffic and 6.9 L/100km on highways. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km, and with the largest authorized service network in the GCC, parts are readily available at both dealerships and independent specialists. The W212 facelift models have historically shown stable depreciation, often retaining value better than the newer W213 generation due to their reputation for simpler mechanical maintenance.

Performance & Capability

With a 0–100 km/h time of approximately 7.1 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h, the E300 delivers effortless acceleration that is perfectly suited for fast-moving UAE highways. The 7G-TRONIC Plus transmission is tuned for smoothness, providing seamless gear changes during city commutes while being responsive enough for high-speed overtaking. Its rear-wheel-drive chassis offers a balanced, planted feel that remains composed even when crosswinds affect open desert roads.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior features the classic Elegance walnut wood trim paired with a 5-seat layout that offers generous rear legroom, suitable for executive transport or family use. The GCC-specific climate control system includes dedicated rear vents and a powerful compressor designed to cool the cabin rapidly after being parked in direct sunlight. Heavy acoustic glass and thick insulation ensure that road noise is kept to a minimum, creating a serene environment during long commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Safety

This trim comes standard with Mercedes-Benz's full safety suite, including Attention Assist which monitors driver fatigue and the Pre-Safe system that prepares the cabin for an imminent collision. It features multiple airbags, including side and curtain units, alongside advanced traction control and ABS. For the GCC driver, the inclusion of the LED Intelligent Light System is vital, as it automatically adjusts the beam pattern for maximum visibility on unlit desert highways.

The bottom line

This is a prime opportunity for a professional looking for a reliable, GCC-spec executive sedan that combines the prestigious AMG look with the superior ride comfort of the Elegance trim.
