Summary

This 2014 Land Cruiser VXR sits in the resale 'sweet spot' for the GCC, finished in high-demand white with the range-topping 5.7L V8 powertrain. While its mileage reflects its 12 years of service, these units are prized in the region for their 'million-kilometer' durability and legendary high-temperature cooling performance. As a VXR, it offers a significant luxury leap over the GXR, featuring advanced hydraulic suspension and a more refined cabin that holds its value better than any European rival. For the GCC buyer, this remains the ultimate reliable workhorse that transitions seamlessly from executive commuting to deep-desert exploration.

This Car vs Other 2014 Land Cruisers

At 353,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is typical for a 12-year-old Land Cruiser in a region where annual travel often reaches 30,000 km. Its white exterior is the most sought-after color in the GCC used market, offering the best heat reflection and the highest resale liquidity. Compared to high-mileage GXR models, this VXR’s premium equipment and superior 5.7L engine make it a more desirable long-term investment.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim is a substantial upgrade over the EXR and GXR, most notably replacing the 4.6L with the high-torque 5.7L V8. It adds essential GCC luxury features such as the 14-speaker JBL premium audio system, 360-degree cameras, and ventilated leather seats. Crucially, the VXR includes the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), providing significantly better on-road stability and off-road wheel travel than base models.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser's primary rival is the Nissan Patrol; while the Patrol offers more interior tech, the Land Cruiser leads in long-term mechanical simplicity and parts availability across rural GCC areas. Against the Chevrolet Tahoe, the Toyota offers a superior 138-litre dual-tank range and a more advanced full-time 4WD system. Its resale value at 12 years old remains significantly higher than any American or European competitor in the UAE market.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.7L V8 averages around 15.7L/100km, though this increases in stop-start Dubai or Riyadh traffic. As a GCC-spec Toyota, it benefits from the most extensive service network in the region, with parts available in every major city from Kuwait to Salalah. Maintenance is predictable, with major services typically occurring every 10,000 km, and it retains a higher percentage of its value than almost any other vehicle type in the Gulf.

Performance & Capability

The 362 hp V8 engine provides 530 Nm of torque, allowing for effortless highway overtaking even when fully loaded with eight passengers. Its off-road hardware is best-in-class, featuring a low-range transfer case, locking differentials, and Crawl Control for self-recovery in soft sand. With a 225 mm ground clearance and a 138-litre fuel capacity, it is purpose-built for trans-emirate road trips and weekend dune bashing.

Comfort & Cabin

The 8-seat cabin is designed for the extreme Gulf climate, featuring a powerful multi-zone air conditioning system and a center console cool box for beverages. This VXR trim includes a rear-seat entertainment system with dual screens, perfect for keeping children occupied on long drives across the desert. High-grade leather and wood-grain trim provide a durable yet premium environment that resists wear even after high usage.

Safety

Standard safety for this VXR includes 10 airbags and an advanced Pre-Collision System with Adaptive Radar Cruise Control, which is invaluable for long-distance highway safety. It features Multi-Terrain ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) tuned specifically for variable surfaces like sand and gravel. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Active Traction Control (A-TRC) ensure the heavy chassis remains composed during emergency maneuvers at highway speeds.

The bottom line

This is the ideal purchase for a family or adventurer looking for the prestige and power of a 5.7L VXR at a used-market price point. It offers the reliability of the Land Cruiser badge with the highest possible specification for the 2014 model year.
