Summary

This 2015 Hyundai Grand Starex represents a dependable solution for large families or commercial transport in the GCC. While its mileage is average for its age, the 2.5L diesel engine is highly regarded for its durability and lower running costs during long-distance highway hauls. The grey exterior remains one of the most practical choices for the region, effectively masking desert dust and maintaining strong resale appeal. As a Korean-spec model, it offers a robust build quality that stands up well to the high-demand logistics typically required of this segment. This van is a logical choice for those prioritizing seating capacity and long-term mechanical reliability over modern digital frills.

This Car vs Other 2015 Grand Starexs

At 125,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is standard for a 2015 model in the GCC, where annual averages often reach 25,000 km. The grey exterior is a solid resale choice in the local market, offering better heat management and cleaning convenience than darker tones. Compared to other units of the same year, this diesel variant is particularly sought after for its superior fuel economy on long inter-emirate trips.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The Standard trim provides the essential 9+ seating configuration and dual sliding doors that define the model's utility. While it avoids the complexity of higher-trim power doors or leather interiors, it retains the vital rear climate vents necessary for passenger comfort in the heat. It focuses on mechanical simplicity, which often leads to lower maintenance costs as the vehicle ages in the GCC market.

Grand Starex vs Segment Rivals

The Grand Starex leads rivals like the Toyota Hiace in passenger comfort and refinement, offering a more car-like driving experience. It provides a more affordable entry point than the Toyota Alphard while maintaining a larger seating capacity than most 7-seat SUVs. Its 75-litre tank ensures fewer stops during cross-border travel between UAE, Oman, or Saudi Arabia.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.5L diesel engine delivers an efficient combined fuel consumption of 8.8 L/100km, which is a major advantage for high-mileage users. Service intervals are typically recommended every 10,000 km at authorized centers available throughout major GCC cities. The Grand Starex enjoys strong value retention in the region due to its popularity in the tourism and transport sectors, typically depreciating slower than European van counterparts.

Performance & Capability

With 175 hp and 441 Nm of torque, the Grand Starex provides ample low-end power for moving a full cabin of passengers. The rear-wheel-drive layout and 5-speed automatic transmission are tuned for highway stability and long-distance cruising. A turning circle of 5.6m makes this large van surprisingly manageable in tight urban parking areas within Dubai or Riyadh.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around maximum passenger utility, featuring a 9+ seat layout with dedicated air conditioning vents for every row. A high-roof design ensures generous headroom, while the grey fabric interior is chosen for its durability and resistance to summer heat soak. Dual sliding doors allow for easy entry and exit in narrow parking bays common in regional city centers.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags and a reinforced steel body structure designed for passenger protection. This trim also features anti-lock braking (ABS) to assist with controlled stops on sandy or wet road surfaces. Its height and large glass area provide the driver with excellent visibility in heavy highway traffic.

The bottom line

For a GCC buyer needing reliable, high-capacity transport without the premium price tag of a luxury MPV, this Grand Starex is an excellent practical opportunity.
