Kia Sorento EX TOP

Highlights

• 266 hp from a 3.3-litre V6 engine
• Seven seats with flat-folding third row
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This Kia Sorento represents one of the most practical family entries in the GCC market, offering a six-cylinder powertrain that handles long highway drives with significantly more ease than the base four-cylinder models. With a seating capacity for seven and a maroon exterior that maintains a respectable presence, this EX TOP trim provides the features local families prioritize, including enhanced cabin cooling and leather upholstery. Kia’s widespread service availability across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensures that maintenance remains straightforward and affordable for long-term owners. This specific listing is a balanced choice for those who need a reliable seven-seater that is mechanically prepared for the region's climate and traffic demands.

This Car vs Other 2015 Sorentos

With 167,000 km on the odometer, this Sorento sits within the expected mileage range for a decade-old family SUV in the GCC, where annual averages typically hit 20,000 km. The Maroon exterior is a distinctive alternative to the common white or silver, yet it remains a popular enough tone to retain solid interest in the used market. Choosing the V6 model over the 2.4-liter version provides a major advantage in highway overtaking performance between emirates.

EX TOP vs Lower Trims

The EX TOP trim bridges the gap between basic utility and luxury, adding leather seating and a power-adjustable driver’s seat that are absent in the LX. It also features larger alloy wheels and integrated LED positioning lights, giving it a more premium road presence. For the GCC climate, the upgraded dual-zone climate control in this trim is a vital addition for keeping all seven passengers comfortable during the summer months.

Sorento vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Fortuner or Mitsubishi Montero Sport, the Sorento leads in on-road refinement and cabin ergonomics thanks to its monocoque chassis. While rivals often use a more rugged truck-based platform, the Sorento offers a smoother ride quality that is better suited for city commuting and school runs. Its flat-folding third row also provides a more versatile cargo area than several competitors in this price bracket.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.3L V6 engine typically sees fuel consumption around 9.8 L/100km on the highway, though GCC city traffic will see this figure rise during the summer when the AC is at full capacity. Service intervals are generally every 10,000 km, and Kia’s parts availability is among the best in the region, keeping repair costs predictable. The Sorento holds its value well in the UAE market, benefiting from a reputation for mechanical durability and a strong secondary demand for seven-seater SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The V6 engine delivers a smooth 266 hp, allowing the Sorento to reach 100 km/h in approximately 8.8 seconds, which is ample for merging onto fast-moving highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. While primarily a road-biased SUV, the 185 mm ground clearance provides enough confidence for graded gravel tracks and weekend trips to the wadis. The six-speed automatic transmission is tuned for efficiency at cruising speeds, making it a relaxed long-distance companion.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Sorento EX TOP is designed for maximum family utility with three rows of seating and dedicated rear cooling vents. The cabin is well-insulated from exterior heat, and the inclusion of leather trim adds a level of durability needed for family use. Tech features include a 6-speaker audio system with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, ensuring everyone stays entertained on drives across the border or between cities.

Safety

Standard safety for this trim includes six airbags and a comprehensive electronic stability suite designed to maintain traction on sand-dusted asphalt. The four-wheel disc brakes are equipped with ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, providing reliable stopping power even when the vehicle is fully loaded with seven passengers. Rear parking sensors are also standard, making this mid-sized SUV easier to manage in tight urban parking environments.

The bottom line

For a GCC buyer seeking a dependable, V6-powered seven-seater with a strong regional service history, this Sorento EX TOP is a high-utility opportunity that avoids the sluggishness of smaller-engined rivals.
