Mercedes Benz ML63 AMG STANDARD

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 4.8 seconds
• Hand-built 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine
• 93-litre fuel tank standard

Summary

This 11-year-old ML63 AMG represents the final year of the W166 M-Class generation before its rebrand, offering a proven 517 hp powertrain that remains a benchmark for performance SUVs. Finished in Silver, it carries the most resilient resale color for the UAE market, making it a pragmatic choice for those seeking AMG power without the steep depreciation of newer models. While the mileage reflects a well-used life on GCC highways, the vehicle is built for these long-distance conditions, featuring a massive fuel tank and robust all-wheel-drive stability. For a buyer in the region, this is the opportunity to own a hand-assembled V8 beast that transitions seamlessly from a comfortable family cruiser to a high-speed desert highway performer.

This Car vs Other 2015 ML63 AMGs

With 215,000 km, this vehicle has covered approximately 19,500 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the typical GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km for highway-based commuters. In the local market, Silver is considered the strongest resale color due to its ability to hide fine desert dust and resist the intense summer heat better than darker tones. Unlike many American or European imports found in the UAE, this GCC-spec example ensures the cooling systems and radio frequencies are optimized for regional use.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the flagship of the M-Class, the AMG trim transforms the vehicle with a hand-built engine and the Active Curve System, which uses hydraulic stabilizers to keep the SUV flat during high-speed cornering—a feature not found on the ML500. Inside, it adds standard ventilated front seats and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon Logic 7 audio system, providing the thermal comfort and acoustic quality essential for the GCC's long summer drives. The exterior is distinguished by 20-inch AMG wheels and a specific aero body kit that commands significantly more presence than the base V6 models.

ML63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The ML63 AMG competes directly with the BMW X5 M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo, leading the segment in cargo flexibility with 690 litres of boot space that expands to 2,010 litres for family road trips. Its 93-litre fuel tank provides a greater touring range than many rivals, a vital advantage when crossing borders or driving between major GCC hubs like Dubai and Riyadh. While the X5 M focuses on track-like stiffness, the Mercedes-AMG offers a more compliant air suspension that better handles the varying road surfaces found across the Emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

Expect a real-world combined fuel consumption of approximately 11.8 L/100km, though stop-start city traffic in major GCC metros can see this rise to 15.7 L/100km. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km, and given the extensive Mercedes-Benz authorized network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, parts and specialized AMG technicians are readily available. As a 2015 model, it has already cleared the steepest part of its depreciation curve, typically retaining its value more steadily than more complex, newer performance SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this SUV is the 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine, delivering 517 hp and 700 Nm of torque for effortless highway overtaking at any speed. It reaches 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, supported by a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system that provides immense grip on both tarmac and gravel surfaces. With a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,050 kg, it is one of the few luxury performance vehicles capable of hauling heavy trailers or boat equipment across the region's coasts.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary from the GCC heat, featuring powerful multi-zone climate control and standard ventilated seats that are essential during the peak summer months. The five-seat layout offers generous legroom for adult passengers in the rear, complemented by premium leather and acoustic glass that isolates the interior from wind noise at highway speeds. The COMAND navigation system and digital cockpit ensure the driver remains connected and informed during long cross-country expeditions.

Safety

This trim includes a comprehensive safety suite featuring Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, which are particularly valuable on fast-moving, multi-lane UAE highways. Standard adaptive cruise control reduces driver fatigue during long desert drives, while the 360-degree camera system makes parking this large SUV effortless in tight urban spaces. It also features a full complement of airbags and Mercedes' Pre-Safe system, which achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP rating during its production cycle.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec ML63 AMG is the ideal choice for an enthusiast who needs family practicality and V8 performance without the high price tag of a new GLE 63. Its silver-over-leather combination and documented GCC history make it a safer, higher-value bet in the local used market.
