Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds
• 305 km/h top speed
• 1,100 Nm of torque

Summary

This Bentley Mulsanne Speed represents the absolute peak of British luxury craftsmanship, offering a rare combination of immense torque and a hand-finished cabin. With just over 83,000 km, this GCC-spec example has been driven slightly more than typical for a collector car but remains well below the heavy-use averages seen in the regional executive market. The black-on-black color combination is the most sought-after pairing in the UAE, ensuring strong resale demand and timeless appeal. Unlike the standard model, the Speed is specifically engineered for the driver, featuring a more potent engine tune and a sport-focused suspension that makes it ideal for high-speed cross-emirate travel. For the discerning buyer, this is an opportunity to own a hand-built icon that offers more presence and interior theater than any modern equivalent.

This Car vs Other 2016 Mulsannes

While many 2016 models in the GCC are base-trim chauffeur vehicles, this is the performance-oriented Speed variant. Its mileage is considered average for a ten-year-old luxury sedan in this region, where highway commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi often inflate figures. Choosing this black exterior variant provides a significant resale advantage, as it remains the most liquid color in the local pre-owned market.

SPEED vs Lower Trims

The Speed trim is a major step up from the standard Mulsanne, increasing output to 530 hp and a monumental 1,100 Nm of torque. It adds unique 21-inch wheels, rifled exhaust tips, and a dark-tint finish to the exterior brightwork and lamps. Inside, it standardizes the Mulliner Driving Specification, featuring diamond-quilted leather, a knurled gear lever, and drilled alloy pedals that are often optional on lower trims.

Mulsanne vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Rolls-Royce Ghost, the Mulsanne Speed offers a more driver-focused experience with its signature 6.75-liter V8, which provides significantly more torque for effortless highway overtaking. It leads the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in sheer cabin materials and craftsmanship, utilizing solid metal switchgear and hand-selected wood veneers that resist the GCC's intense heat better than plastic-heavy interiors. The large 96-litre fuel tank also ensures a longer touring range for desert highway drives.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 14.6 L/100km, though stop-start traffic in cities like Dubai or Riyadh will see this rise significantly. Service intervals are typically every 16,000 km or annually, and with authorized Bentley service centers located in major GCC hubs, parts and expert maintenance are readily available. As a flagship model that is now discontinued, the Mulsanne has reached a steadier depreciation curve compared to high-volume luxury SUVs, holding its value well as a modern classic.

Performance & Capability

The 1,100 Nm of torque is the defining feature of this powertrain, providing immediate, silent thrust that feels more like a private jet than a sedan. It reaches a top speed of 305 km/h, which, combined with the sport-tuned air suspension, offers incredible stability on high-speed motorways. Multiple drive modes allow you to sharpen the steering and damping for a more connected feel or soften them for a signature 'waftability' over uneven city surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary from the GCC summer, featuring a high-capacity air conditioning system and heavily insulated acoustic glass to keep out heat and road noise. This trim features ventilated seats with massage functions, essential for comfort during the hotter months. The rear passenger area is equally opulent, offering dedicated climate zones and exquisite leather detailing that makes it as suitable for being chauffeured as it is for driving.

Safety

Standard safety features include a comprehensive airbag suite and advanced stability control systems tuned to handle the car's significant weight on varied surfaces. The 2016 model includes front and rear parking sensors with a rear-view camera to aid in maneuvering its large footprint. Additionally, the Speed's upgraded braking system provides consistent, powerful stopping performance even from high cruising speeds.

The bottom line

This Mulsanne Speed is for the enthusiast who wants the presence of a flagship Bentley with the performance of a grand tourer. It is a rare, GCC-spec opportunity to secure a high-performance modern classic in the region's best resale color.
