• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2016 Veloster GLS SR is a standout choice for those seeking a stylish hatchback that balances efficiency with personality. At 10 years old with 120,000 km, its mileage sits well below the GCC average of 200,000 km for this age, suggesting a life primarily spent on urban commutes rather than high-stress trans-emirate hauls. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the region, ensuring maximum heat reflection and strong resale appeal. As a GLS SR, you gain premium features like a panoramic sunroof and leather trim that are rare in the compact segment. For any buyer in the UAE or wider GCC, the combination of Hyundai's legendary reliability and a vast parts network makes this a low-risk, high-fun daily driver.

This Car vs Other 2016 Velosters

With only 120,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the 20,000 km per year typical for GCC motorists. While many 10-year-old hatchbacks in the market show heavy wear, this unit's lower-than-average mileage and GCC-spec origin provide greater mechanical confidence. The crisp white finish is not just a practical choice for the summer heat; it remains the most liquid color for value retention in the local used market.

GLS SR vs Lower Trims

The GLS SR trim is a major step up from the base model, adding essential GCC comforts like a full panoramic sunroof and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. It replaces the standard cloth with premium leather-appointed upholstery and upgrades the tech suite to include a proximity key with push-button start. You also benefit from automatic climate control and power-folding mirrors, features that add daily convenience during the intense Gulf summers.

Veloster vs Segment Rivals

The Veloster stands apart from rivals like the Kia Soul or Volkswagen Scirocco with its unique three-door configuration, offering coupe styling with practical rear-seat access via a hidden passenger-side door. While competitors often prioritize utility, the Veloster focuses on a low-slung, sporty profile without sacrificing the ease of maintenance Hyundai is known for. Its 50-litre fuel tank and 7.0 L/100km efficiency make it a more economical highway cruiser than many larger-displacement hatchbacks.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are impressively low, with real-world fuel consumption averaging approximately 7.0 L/100km, rising slightly in heavy Dubai or Riyadh stop-start traffic. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is fully supported by extensive authorized service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts are always affordable and available. Hyundai models of this era typically enjoy a stable depreciation curve in the GCC, losing roughly 10-12% annually, making it a safe harbor for your investment compared to European alternatives.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a refined 1.6-litre engine producing 128 hp, the Veloster offers a nimble and responsive drive perfect for navigating urban environments. The 6-speed automatic transmission provides smooth shifts for comfortable highway overtaking and steady cruising between cities. Its compact 10.6-metre turning circle makes it exceptionally easy to park in crowded malls or tight residential spots, while the front-wheel-drive setup ensures predictable handling on both tarmac and sandy roadside patches.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for a driver-focused experience, featuring a 4-seat layout with surprisingly supportive leather-trimmed seats. The large panoramic sunroof creates an airy feel, while the powerful GCC-tuned air conditioning system is built to handle 45-degree summer peaks with ease. Rear passengers benefit from a dedicated access door, and the flat-folding rear seats allow the cargo area to expand significantly for grocery runs or weekend gear.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive for the segment, featuring six airbags and electronic stability control as standard. The GLS SR trim includes a rearview camera and rear parking sensors, which are vital for maneuvering the car's unique body shape. Standard anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution provide confident stopping power, especially important during the rare but heavy rain showers that can make local roads slick.

The bottom line

Perfect for the young professional or student who wants a distinctive, high-spec car with the peace of mind that comes from GCC-specific cooling and a low-mileage history.
